I was thinking his dribble is too high also. It’s nice to see him shoot from distance though.

Why put out this video? Self adulation? Agent trying to rile up knicks Rainman like fans to "Free Mitch" and pressure team to max him out? Think the team would not love mitch to be doing that stuff in a game? We suppose to think knicks are "so dumb they don't see what I see!!"
Nalod a big knick fan and if this guy can do that in practice and in an arena with 18k fans in a close game thats great. If he gets an open look with 5 seconds on the clock can he be a viable threat?
Knixkik@ 5/22/2020 9:14 AM
That ball handling won't work in the league, but if he can become a spot-up 3pt threat it will be huge. Also, would love to see clips of him going up against other athletic 7 footers in the paint and have 2 or 3 moves that look smooth. He needs to develop his footwork in the paint. I'm not expecting his offensive game to become like KAT, but he needs to work on the areas that will turn him into a serious offensive threat.

After saying this last july, he Attempted zero 3's after 60 something games, Which means he has zero confidence in that shot.
Unlike lopez and marc gasol (who both develop a decent 3 point shot) mitch was never even consider to be a face up jump shooting big, so to think he'll venture out there anytime soon is almost a pipe dream.
In this era of basketball, A face up big is almost mandatory if your really going to compete.

Gonna be fun to see one day he’ll get the green light and see what happens. At some point its instinctive and it just flows...... Or not. I like the way they have been bringing this kid along. He was raw and Knicks have given him the minutes and he has responded well earning them.
CleaverGreene@ 5/22/2020 5:20 PM
Yeah...crossover dribble pull back 3s...just what you want Mitch doing.
Would rather see him working on some go to post moves, a la Hakeem Olajuwon, and developing a hook shot.
If you're a good offensive rebounder, you need some moves down low. He's always looked awkward down in the post.
Show me moves in the post and some no dribble catch & shoot midrange jumpers before you do the stuff in the video.

If he’s hitting them in the scrimmages, he will absolutely get the green light. The fact that he’s not taking any at all just makes me think that this is all talk and the videos are taken from rare successful plays.

He can probably do that against bigs but against some PF, all SF/SG/PG would take that ball away if he doesn't tighten up that dribble. Too high and too wide. Looks good though. Love the shot.
Think the bigger picture is being missed by some. True that it's hard to be impressed by a video of him making a step back. As we don't know how many shots he had to take to make one. However, if a 7 foot center being able to dribble that way does not impress anyone, don't know what will. Kid is an athletic freak. And this video of him dribbling that way is just another example of it. I am excited to see his progress the next few years.

Hes been doing this prior to the draft. I've seen it in person. What I don't understand is when the game starts, he's all about lobs n dunks. Even in the 2 pickup games I saw myself....then last year. Maybe he will eventually show this in a game. But game speed is different.

His work ethic is the one single thing that is making me keep hope for him. He clearly keeps himself in shape. Hopefully he can start turning the corner next season.

Im not putting too much weight on these videos. Mitch is such a big tease, remember last offseason he posted a number of 3pt shooting videos but during the season he attempted only 1 or even none! His dribbling looks very high at times NBA defenders will have a feast day with that. My only take on these videos is that he is continuing to work on his game, which is very nice to know.

From the 1981 movie “Knighthawks”, Sly plays a NYC detective looking for Rutgar Haur........... Decent movie form the day and a very interesting soundtrack by the great Keith Emerson thru out the movie.
