I don’t understand
Swishfm3 @ 6/27/2020 1:12 AM
This reminds me of S. Marbury's recent rant about this hire.

Couldn't disagree more. He's always been looking for a Sather/Davidson to run the Knicks and just have him sign the checks. He thought Jackson would be that. He hopes Rose is that.

If Thibs, or another friendly face to the org is made HC, you'll be right.

Nalod @ 6/28/2020 3:21 PM
We had plenty of fresh Faces too.. y’all wanted Thibs before minny. Dude can coach.
Sambakick @ 6/28/2020 5:27 PM
This thread: In the latest Knicksperean tradegy we see Leon Rose cast in the role of William Barr tasked with protecting his boss at all costs.

Me: I'm listening...

All Leon has had time to do is start to flesh out the front office, coach next. From what I have seen, it's been pretty competent.

What move have you NOT liked?

Before Minny, sure. Until he was given the keys to the store, and still made the same mistakes. Spent little or, no time developing his bench. Look at the distribution of minutes between starters, and the bench. All those years in the league, Thibs didnt learn you dont win championships without a quality bench.

Rose wants to show fans that things have changed, he can start with new blood at HC. If not Miller, who earned a shot. Find a good asst, (or as Uptown suggested) and ex-pro who is good with Xa and Os. Not enough just to be an ex-pro.

Pass on Kidd. Was signed to NY, first thing he does is wrap his ride around a tree. Dont believe there is such a drought of good young coaches, coaches with new ideas.
That retreads are the only answer.

Devil You know vs the devil you dont

It's a giant TBD at this stage. Whether you like the staff he's added- at least it seems he has had the green light to make moves- unlike Phil who wanted to toss the medical staff and was prevented.

If the mandate to Rose is win now, and it could well be, the only difference between how things turn out from the last big splash hires like Phil and Isiah will be in Rose's ability to spot/manage talent.

If his mandate is build a winner no matter how long it takes, then I think that will be different. The fact that we've kept Perry might be a close indicator that we're here for stability and building vs. instant satisfaction.

Here's a guy who can teach post-doctoral classes on cap space management and the business side of the NBA. He's represented everyone from Rick Brunson to LeQ. One of Phil's stated shortcomings was he couldn't return calls to other teams because he didn't know jack about either.

So Jimmie hires an incredible yet aged, sleepy basketball mind/legend, pays him a mindless fortune and that became a cluster.

Now we will see what happens when Jimmie's in the room with a driven, all-business guy who used to fleece his guitar-playing azz.

Interesting.

That's not really his strength if you look at past articles. But....he did higher Allers who is supposed to be a cap maestro. I admit, I hated the Rose higher when it was announced and I continue to be skeptical. That said, I don't have many, if any, complaints with what Rose has done so far.

Guy comes across as hungry and driven. Little pesky point guard from Cherry Hill, NJ. In the end of all things, it's a players' business league, first and foremost. Teams are toys for billionaires.

Leon took on some risk by walking away at the top of his game to come here. Can't say its not about money cuz it always is.
no guarantee it works. We on another adventure.

I will settle for the adventure of a playoff run.

+1
1 billion in contracts. 38 million in commissions. I'm still wondering why Phil's contract was common knowledge and Leon's is a secret? Difference between hiring a coach and an agent?

The Nalod be right. It's always about the money. Even more so now.
