Knicks · Day 8 post surgery...... (page 1)

Nalod @ 7/3/2020 1:00 AM
Had a torn labrum and woke up to find out they did my rotator cuff too.
Gravity of the world, the Social unrest of U.S. and unemployment not lost on me.
Been counting my blessings for months now as I can work at home and have been healthy.
Delayed for months having this done but window opened up and would like to think it was a good time to lay low.
Torn Labrum a bout a 3-6 month thing. This rotator cuff adds 6 more months if all goes well to return to Tennis court play. I’m like KP, gonna be a long ass time! LOL. Summer of 2021!
Add the 9 months been out rehabbing it, rest, injections plus the Covid.
Happy to read Triple is back on the board. Hope he ok.
Any tips on this Cuff thing would be helpful. I’m walking 2 miles a day, keep moving and it feels good. Lie down in the bed, even with the motorized thing to keep me upright and its freaking throbs.
Thanks for hearing my rant1

Man, you have more injuries than Derrick Rose! I do hope the pain eases and your recover goes swiftly

Knickfury11 @ 7/3/2020 5:59 AM
Ah man, my thoughts and sympathies are with you. Here’s hoping for a full successful recovery. I’ve always believed that the mind and body are so closely connected so always think of what you love in life and remain positive man. Best wishes Nalod.
Allanfan20 @ 7/3/2020 7:35 AM
Hope your recovery goes smooth and quick and healthy Nalod. Maybe those JD and the Straight Shot tunes will ease your mind a little.
jrodmc @ 7/3/2020 11:19 AM
Fill your thoughts with happy scenes of Frankie shooting J's endlessly and the fact his arms would have grown another 3 inches by the time you're back on the tennis court!
Keep up the good work and don't go all Bane on us at some point.

Was happy to see the post from Triple as well.

Get well soon Nalod. Shoulder surgery is no fun. Before I moved out here, had surgery to remove a bone spur pressing against my rotator cuff. Still recovering from knee surgery, last year.

Some advice on recovery. I have the same thing happening to my other shoulder, avoided surgery by going from weight training, military presses, to exercise bands. They have custom equipment out there. I use these heavy duty bands people use on the arms, I put the handles (on one side), under my feet, and work out. I have to lift heavy logs to clear downed trees on my property, its been a life saver.

Its safer than weight training, and I get the same effect. Something to consider.

Was using the bands as part of PT prior. For a few years used a speed bag easy for 5 min before Tennis. No doubt will have to space my play when I return. No more weekend tournaments and 3-4 days in a row matches.
I begin PT on Monday and expect more bands to work with.
Mrs. Nalod has been awesome. I’m lucky that I can basically take care of myself but things one armed just take a long time. Wish we had the Orlando thing going, I’d be all over that!
I wish Triple would chime in and share his journey. We all might not agree on things but we keep it civil and we all friends. some of us been here for years!!
Thx for the well wishes........

Wishing you a quick recovery. Just think of happy thoughts. Think of athletic bubble butts.

I have really got into F1 racing the last few year. Netflix does a great “Drive to survive” series which is top notch production and very interesting. Today as the first race and it was great!

My plans this summer was to either get to Wimbledon or British Gran Prix, obviously not possible.
Just great to sit down and watch a sport.

Good luck nalod. No matter what train. I’ve had various health issues over long time but I never ever stop training one way or another. Best remedy is to stay active. I have something in my left shoulder as well -can’t raise it above my head but it’s fine to do push ups with so to me it’s not worth looking into for the extra range of motion.

I'm also due for an ACL with MCL surgery on my left knee. Been putting it off for some time now. I think that day will be coming soon for me.

Have a speedy recovery Nalod! Stay safe!

Many people have been here almost 20 years— it’s almost like an internet home with family members.probably why I kept on trying to comeback. Ultimately I consider many friends even if there are difference of opinion. The downside of being on here 20 years is the aging process that has come along. It’s a slow slow process that starts in your early to middle 30s and never loos back. My friend said it best— most people their check engine light comes on after 50. Now it’s a case of survive advance sustain.

blkexec @ 7/7/2020 6:57 AM
Man....i know all about this surgery. Torn rotator cuff and ruptured longhead bicep for me. The recovery for me was a year, but I was also in bad shape and delayed the surgery for 4 yrs. So when the doctor went in he said it was a mess. Lol. Well hopefully this will help you focus on the future...because I'm now back on the court and jumper is still wet. Right handed with right shoulder surgery. I never thought I would be back to my normal form. But I did it and im only a few yrs from 50....sounds scary to even say that.

Good luck on your recovery

Nalod @ 7/7/2020 9:40 AM
Good stuff guys, thank you! It helps!
Sambakick @ 7/7/2020 9:21 PM
Did insurance pay? Usually they make you do physical therapy in lieu of expensive surgery unless you're a pro athlete.

Surgery is always a last resort and I had injections, PT, and rest before surgery.
