Depending on where the Knicks picked (and assuming they dropped a slot or 2).
Devin Vassell
Tyler Bey
Paul Reed
And I really don't have a clue if Tyler Bey or Reed drop or shoot up in draft.
Defense, energy, shooting. Role players you can just plug in.

The back court will get eaten alive. If anything just start Dragic in your scenario or sign Teague for a couple years until either Frank becomes a better shooter and playmaker or you find a long-term fix at PG. But you can't come out next year with Nesmith being the only shooter in the line-up, who is a rookie. We would still be the worst outside shooting team in the league by a mile. I know Woods can knock them down but he's not a true stretch 4. Nothing wrong with Woods, he's a talent, but if you are bringing him in then the other wing position opposite of Barrett and the PG need to be good shooters.
If u drafted Nesmith Bey and Pritchard you probably got the top 3 point shooters in the draft or close to it. My whole draft is based on long term appreciation from the 3 point line.
Knixkik wrote:NYKBocker wrote:I think Frank starts at PG this year.
You really think Leon Rose thinks Frank can lead a good offense at this point? He wants to win this year.
I won't speak for NYKBocker, but i can totally see this happening. Why does the offense need to run through Frank? Why can't it run through RJ or someone else (e.g., a dynamic 3 or 4). If Frank has elite D and can lead to winning he plays (if not he doesn't). There a ton of top tier teams that don't run through a traditional pg, with Bucks, Lakers, Mavs immediately coming to mind; one can argue Denver plays a lot through their center. A good coach creates systems that will utilize a player's strengths; in frank's case that is guarding the point (not 2s or 3s though he can do that). It does not emphasize a player's weaknesses, e.g., expecting Frank to suddently become a dynamic offenseive force (looking at you Fizzdale)

Cmon dude, That's something you would prefer.
DSJ may not have the best attitude but he is the better player,
before becoming a Knick he showed way more potential than frank, at least in terms of style, speed, athleticism.
My draft pick would depend on if we stay at 6 and wiseman is there we got to select if he is there take it and run. I would try to trade mitch robinson if we select wiseman to charlotte for there lottery pick and select kira lewis. In the off season i would go after brandon ingram hard because we know these small market teams are going to struggle with cap this season because of covid. I would also go after malik beasely in free agency for three point shooting wolves can't afford him because of there cap situation. Hoping and praying if the knicks get the top pick don't draft ball he is going to be bust especially here in nyc ball needs a small market team pistons, wolves, or suns to develop properly.

DSJr seemed to be injured last year, bad back. Those don't really heal 100%.
DSJr has never shown the ability to run a team, and now he has mostly likely lost his athleticism.
He has a bad attitude.

And, Harper is a better shooter. We need to trade DSJr to some other team that might still believe in this potential. If he blows up, oh well. The Knicks just need to move on. I like the Harper pickup. He has a chance to a real solid backup PG in this league. If he were 6'4", he would be a starter.

Yeah. Knicks still need a starting PG. Pretty sure Harper was just a worthwhile pickup for the bench but I also wonder if he and Frank off the bench as a pairing is good for both of them.

I’m willing to use Kevin Knox Or a Dallas first rounder to move up to get Bey
This would be a big winner. Battle tested youth with a burgeoning 6-11 nba star
Increase 3 point shooting by a long shot and with Randle Wood and Robinson the best young frontcourt in the nba
Entering this draft, the one thing we can agree on is the Knicks need talent! We should not leave a more talented player on the board just so that we can draft a pg.
With that said, drafting Nesmith @ 6-7 is not a good value pick. If the Knicks are targeting Nesmith, they should trade back and get an additional prospect. As much as I like Bey and would love to draft him, I'm not trading a 2021 pick for him. You know as well as I do that next years draft will be much better than this years. If we can get Bey straight up for Knox, you pull the trigger. Bey is better than Knox right now.
Wood is the exact type of player the Knicks may need to go after. Star free agents that are looking to win are not signing here, so we have to be innovative and grab guys that may be trending-up and put him in a new culture and system that can aid in his growth. And then, maybe we create our own allstar.
If we do not draft a pg with any of our 1st round picks, there will be some interesting prospects available with our 2nd round pick. Pritchard is definitely one of them. Jared Butler and Grant Riller are 2 prospects who could be the next Kendrick Nunn in terms of having an impact as off the radar, 2nd rounders or in Nunn's case, an undrafted rookie.

His pride seemed to be injured as well. Was mentally weak last year. I'm ready to move on from him.
TheGame wrote:Aaron Smith at 6-7 pick would be a risk. He only played 14 games this past season and his prior season, he was not a great shooter. We would be putting a lot of faith in a small sample size. He is also only an average athlete who does not create for others and plays only so-so defense (but who has potential to be better). If we were picking 10-13, then not a problem. A guy like Vassell is a better athlete, has proven his shooting ability over more games and more seasons, is a better defender, a better passer, and is more versatile because he legitimately can play the 2 or 3. If we were going to go away from taking a PG, Vassell would be my first choice.
I like the idea of ending up with two 3&D guys like Saddiq Bey and Vassell. I'd consider signing Joe Harris over drafting Nesmith IF research indicated his 3pt shooting was a fluke
I like BRIGGS draft on this thread (maybe Vassell instead of Nesmith), but I'd rather sign Vanvleet and/or Joe Harris instead of Wood.
Nesmith 52% on 8.2 at
Pritchard 41.5 % on 6.8 at
Bey 45.5 % on 5.6 at
Literally we’d be loading our roster with 3 point snipers who also have diverse games
While woods is just a decent 3 point shooter. I like him for his athletic scoring damage. He can score from everywhere and he’s 6-11. Robinson’s game has expanded. Randle is a racehorse— I mean we’d have 3 guys who can dominate inside 3 great new 3 point shooters and Barrett and iggy can be the slashers. Frank just needs to play within himself here— we have a lot of firepower — also the length head to toe. Frank woods Robinson would be incredible on d

Honestly both DSJ and Frank can kick rocks for all i care, the bottom line is that there's just so many guards in the NBA that are 10x better than them.

I like the draft picks, but obviously it would be smart to add proven shooting in free agency too. Really my issue stems with Frank at PG. Again, mainly because of Barrett and Mitch. Need a quality 3pt shooter at PG for it to work best. It's a guard's league now.

I can see the reasoning for Nesmith and Bey, the likely problem will be that Nesmith will probably go in the 10-14 range and Bey will go in the 12-16 range. To move from 27 to Bey's likely range will be expensive. The Knicks could try to trade back from #6, but then there's the issue of a team with a good fit in that range that will want to trade up.
The Knicks could try to "split" the no#6 pick, fall back and fall back again and try to grab them both, but we are talking coordinating with at least 3-6 teams to make that happen. Teams are only going to want to move draft position if they can dump money as a side bonus to it, this means more teams will need to get involved.
Point being, the Knicks can get one of those guys, but odds are against getting them both. Question becomes who do you like better because odds on, NY won't be able to double dip here.

I think maybe you could get a mid first if you take on some salary for a team in economic difficulty- maybe Twolves would pay to shed their nets pick (we send back our late 1st and second rounder and take on James Johnson’s $16mil- they seem to want to re-sign Hernangomez and Malik Beasley)

I really do like the picks. We need to invest in shooters. Nesmith could be the next buddy hield. I am big on Haliburton because he does a lot of the things that translate. Shooting, playmaking, and great positional size for defensive upside. As a late first round or early second round pick i'm targeting Bane, Pritchard, and Tyrell Terry; all guys who lack upside but can develop into great outside shooting rotation players/bench pieces.
