Spread the minutes a little more. Im hoping he continues his hard, long, intense practices. That is exactly what our young core needs. They need to be molded and not cuddled. You can see Fiz employing the cuddling approach, treating his players as friends you can see it made them soft on the court.
I'm with you on this. I think RJ, Mitch, and Frank are going to thrive with Thibs and all become All-Stars.
Love the optimism. Think with Frankie could go either way. Depending on the draft and FA acquisitions I see Frankie getting burn at the 3. Really determined by that improving perimeter offence ( my optimism ).

Interesting two tweets, and I'm not sure where I stand on the issue.
It's facts.
Phil jakson said The same thing about the 70 win bulls team " They were not a very close team off the court at all".
Winners come to play and put that work in and only want to play with other players who think like them, play hard like them, and play smart like them.
I'm not interested in soft ass players and soft ass coach who's going to baby sit young players
I used to think that, but last few years feel like life’s short so why shouldn’t they have fun with all this, maybe they’re got the right idea- they’re not in the army.
The reason winning is fun now is because teams are loading up on superstars and basically coasting because of a competitive imbalance.
It is probably easier for a team to win 60+ games in a season than to win 4 out of 7 in the NBA finals because the competition is harder and more level. That is when it gets hard. It shouldn't be easy to win a championship. You need to be pushed to expand your limits.

Hope we get the assistant coaches soon

Which (IMO) is just as important as the HC.

Everything he said is the complete opposite of what the knicks have been doing in there so call rebuilding yrs.
Everything he said i have been preaching.
Our young players were so badly coached, the losing environment became so acceptable among the players, poor leadership through the roster, no direction, no roles.
Then you have some fans who think we should let these guys continue to play through their dozens and dozens of mistakes and think that's developing.
You want to start guys like mitch and frank like the earned it, or their good enough, or their leaders
I said it a 100x that your not developing unless your winning and getting better every game.
We don't have players that want to be the best, we have players that want to be good

The original rumor came from before Thibs was hired, saying one of the reasons may be to lure Towns, so not sure if it still applies (forget Towns, ha)

As of now, you have no proof that RJ doesn't want to be the best when he has stated consistently that he wants to be, even though it sounds crazy.

RJ is the only player on this squad i would not trade..
I think he is a quality piece on a really good team

RJ showed no leadership ability in his college and NBA performance .. Which make RJ Barrett tradeable! I like the idea of having Thibs & Gibson for our young-core group Frank MitchRob Dotson and Knox NBA growth. However, we still need a better DEVELOPING-Coach than Thibs as our top assistant-coach .. Preferably a ex-NBA PG like Kidd, or Mark Jackson to guide/mentor the leadership performance of PG-Payton, PG/SG-Frank, and PG-DSJr

I’m just finding it so difficult to get any kind of enthusiastic about hiring Thibs. I keep looking at the posts of those fans that are PRO Thibs and trying to get on their level and share their perspective...
Instead I just feel the cold hard reality of the situation and I’m not onboard. Bracing myself for yet more disappointment. I know I need to give him a chance right? The Knicks fan inside me is hurting.

Hopefully that means they'll announce the assistant coaches at the same time (if we're starting workouts next week, we'll need them!)
smackeddog@ 7/29/2020 3:19 PM
I’ve enjoyed their podcast over the lockdown (they’ve shared some personal stuff over the last few months and managed to fill 2 shows a week when there were no hoops, so I’ve warmed to them) and liked this bit on the Thibs hiring on the most recent show, as usually the Ringer is all Celtics and like to trash the Knicks (and true to form the ringer website had an article critcizing the move, which Vernon hits back at)

I'm not excited about the prospects of Mike Miller (55) and Woodson (62) being added to the coaching staff. I would like to see a couple of young, innovative coaches sitting beside Thibs on the bench.

A mix of both would be welcome IMO. Young coaches could learn a few things from Woodson and Miller, from the bench. Thibs will be busy.

2 thibs assistant, Miller, Payne and a former thibs player(hinrich would be good)
smackeddog@ 7/30/2020 11:16 AM
It's official! Now we can argue obsessively about his assistant coaches
