Knicks · KP is a beast (page 12)

Looking at the list of lower body ailments KP has, he has a chance to follow Yao Ming's career path. A generational talent, multiple all-stars... retired at the age of 30!

Oh boy. I feel bad for the guy, but every time he fails, it's a bit of validation for the tough decision to move him.

(If you think the Knicks got fleeced in the deal, think about what the Mavs got if he doesn't play - a max salary paper weight + THJR + Trey Burke. However, if KP every keeps his body together to contribute in the playoffs and win a championship, it'll be well worth it for the Mavs)

Well that was the deal all along -- there is a roll of the dice by both parties. If he stays on the court he's a major player. If not, well "Max Paperweight" strikes me as accurate. Of course media and fans have rushed to condemn and clown the Knicks. We'll see eh?

Dallas drafted one of Greek Freaks brothers a while back ( well so did the Knicks)

If Greek Freak says I want a trade and will only sign an extension with Dallas, then Zinger is the main piece to be moved. He is still young and he's locked up on a long term contract. It's honestly a better return than most other teams will offer.

A Greek Freak / Doncic pairing would be instant contenders. It would also be very marketable ( i.e. the NBA is a worldwide game) and would create a distraction from the rest of the league's "woke" trend. David Stern and Cuban hated each other, but Stern is long gone, so that impediment is moved away.

If Dallas has to hold onto Zinger, they'll probably have to meter him like GSW did with aging Igoudala. Focus his most usage during the playoff run.

Cuban has a good reputation among players in general and Carlisle has a good reputation as a coach. Dirk could also come out of retirement. Honestly a Dirk/Doncic/Greek Freak/Boban mix would draw in a massive international audience.

A Greek Freak / RJ / Mitch / 2020-21 R1 picks pairing could also be instant contenders. And it's in NY, which the league will come to realize is instrumental in helping drive a recovery from the brink of disaster C19 has brought.

This was the “good knee” he just injured.
57 games with 4 month rest and Woke got Broke.
ramtour420 @ 8/29/2020 1:25 AM
I feel nothing. A part of me is sorry for the jerk. Another part if me is thinking about those picks. Isn't one unprotected?
Jimbo5 @ 8/29/2020 2:18 AM
KP is a very good player, his attitude is far from desirable. A limping Diva. Im sure the Mavs are trying to figure out a minutes restriction or a plan to limit the games he plays each season. Im not even sure if he can safely play 40 games/season including the playoffs. One might even wonder if he can complete a full 82 game season with all the playoff games, what stress and damage that will do to his lower extremities. With each passing year we can see a bulkier KP, an increasing frame that his legs cant handle. Is it even safe to strengthen his legs with all those weak ligament?

next year but just with Doncic they win 45 games

Nalod @ 8/29/2020 9:59 AM
They have no incentive to tank either even if Doncic should have issues.
KP talent was never an issue. IT was durability.

Actually the player from Golden State I think of when thinking of Zinger and his injuries is Shaun Livingston, where if I recall, he was constantly hurt and had one injury so bad his leg was practically hanging by the skin of his body.

Obviously Shaun never turned into what he might have become, but he had a long impactful, albeit it limited, career.

Ming and the player I always compared Zinger to - Ralph Sampson.

Anyone remember Ralph, and the hype around the twin towers.

And look at his stats, and style of play, and tell me you couldn't see Kristaps ending up just like him, broke down and a disappointment.

Just a reminder, this is the guy the Mavs had to hire to appease KP (the one we refused to):

Ha, Dr. Gearhead. Another example of KPs brother going to ridiculous efforts to prove he's smarter than anyone else.

This latest injury is precisely why KP's trade value was lower than it was, given his age and skill set. This is what teams were worried about, as well as his maturity. THJ had one serious injury after another, as well.

Never understood how some fans expected the Knicks to get these amazing offers for KP they wanted. We were lucky to get all that cap room, picks, and a look at DSJr. Maybe Thibs can help in that dept. Show Smith jr. How he worked with Rose.

Imagine being in the Mavs org trying to pretend that this guy is a genuine employee every day

without KP or a mostly healthy KP, they will be fighting for 8th seed in West.

Yup. GSW and the Spurs can push them out of the 8th seed

Phoenix rising!!!!!Blazers are good, the Grizz still on the rise with JA, and SAC is not terrible if they can get healthy.
Mav’s are in the mix if healthy.
But lets not dance on their demise yet.
When we are winning it won’t matter.

If KP was still a knickS had double dog dared them by refusing his qualified offer And they called his bluff, He’d be an unrestricted free agent when this season is over with two knee issues. Knicks get nothing and KP not so Max.
How does the trade look now? Knicks got something. KP got his contract. Mav’s got a Fragile star.
Maybe Mills/Perry did what they could with the moment. HIS FRAGILITY WAS BAKED INTO HIS VALUE. EVEN PHIL UNDERSTOOD THIS AS HAS EVER OTHER GM IN THE NBA. His value peaked when he was just a fragile Diva.
