I defend Knox as one that has improved thru the season based on what I saw. Blogs are opinion pieces not “articles of fact”. One might blog that “knox sucks balls and is part of the Perry sucks balls and Mills sucks balls era”. I’ll put Frank there too. I saw improvement. BLogs need not defend their position as would a qualified beat writer. ITs why I don’t read that many. I know what I saw but I’m not a sports writer with any great talent nor adept at breaking things down. This blog I posted here intellectualizes far better than I could the point I struggled to make. There might be a faction of this new regime that thinks the most egregious failure of Mills and company was the underdevelopment of Knox and Frank. Payne might be chomping at the bit to fix his former pupils in Randle and Knox and see’s from afar. At the least lets fix those kids even if it means trading them NOT FOR A DIsCount! Just an opinion and a hope!!!

if we're lucky, Kevin Knox turns into a 6' 10" Hubert Davis. If we're not lucky, he's out of the league when his rookie deal ends, or at least off our roster.
I'm all for trying to keep our kids, develop them, see what they become.

you summed it up for me
If we flip him, the other team is going to look at him the way looked at Anthony Randolph: bust, but with potential

That's not going to happen, these kids are in a really bad situation, if you get 7 better players, where are you going PT for them.
with a coach who plays 7 to 9 guys religiously, if the NBA doesn't go through with the delete 8 mini camp, then i see the entire roster being flipped, with the exception of a few players.

Did you read the blog? Talks about his rebouding and improvvements to the rim. Hubert Davis was a sg. We need greater produciton from every position on this team. Either from organic growth, Free agency, or via trade. Its a long road to "respectable street". As a fan im bias to the yoot. The blog outlined how well Kevin did with Frank and Dot. The bit about Trier was a bit telling. DSJ did not look good.

Knox is a 1000x more athletic that Hubert Davis. They are nothing alike. I never liked the Knox pick but it is what it is. Point is he's a hyper athletic 20 year old with size and good shooting mechanics and not much else. Of course we have phucked up his development as well. Hopefully this staff can accomplish something with him. In fact he turns 21 tomorrow
ESOMKnicks@ 8/10/2020 5:31 PM
I never saw Knox as a potential superstar, so I cannot say that I am disappointed with him. He is developing as a player his age should. I believe eventually he could be a useful stretch combo forward, good for 12-15 pts, 5-6 rebs and 2-3 assts per game. Better than Channing Frye, who was hailed as an important piece of the championship Cleveland teams. Possibly a poor man's Keith Van Horn. But only if he ends up in a much better development environment that the one he has had, this much is certainly true. Wonder if the Knicks will create one for him, with Payne coming on board, or would it have to happen on another team?
Knixkik@ 8/10/2020 8:45 PM
Based on his age he probably should have been a rookie this year. He’s a good fit for the current nba. His shoot looks nice, it just doesn’t go in enough yet. Sounds too simple but it’s true. The tools are there. My guess is if his confidence and drive catch up than he will take off. Obviously that’s a big If though.

Missing how that is any different than Hubert Davis!
Hyper athletic? What is that, because Kenny Walker was hyper athletic. Mitchell Robinson is Hyper Athletic.
Kevin Knox is a 6'10" shooting guard. I'm missing the uber quickness and the jump out of the gym hyper athleticism you have witnessed.
YouTube clip please?
And how exactly is being a 6'10" Hubert Davis a bad thing? I love his shooting form. It reminds me of Alan Houston- the grace of it.
Maybe that is the upside that would make you happy - a 6'10" Alan Houston? No defense, but a healthy dose of good outside shooting.
And if Knox becomes a legit threat from 3, and puts up 15+/1 points - which is what a current Hubert Davis 10pts a game would be equivalent to in today's NBA- then I sure would be happy.
Let's bookmark this thread and come back in 10 years, see if Knox has anywhere close to Davis' career stats:
So yea... he's just like a bigger Hubert Davis minus the killer J but more athletic and plays forward

So, we got Kenny Walker with possibly Hubert's jumper....

Hubie was a 4 year UNC player on some very good teams. Knox would be entering his senior year in college this year. Seems Hubie did not play much his rookie year. Personally I see no similarities other than a good stroke. Hubie was a great long range shooter.
NYKBocker@ 8/11/2020 11:21 AM
Knox got all the attributes to be a very good player. The problem with him is that he is not engaged all the time. It drives me crazy. He has the bball IQ. He has the length. Strength is coming. Shot is there. Then he fucking starts picking daisies in the outfield. Hopefully Thibs can get him engaged all the time.

Feel like that's one of his strengths: Task Master.
If DSJr, Frank, Knox are on the roster at beginning of year, I think all 3 (plus Mitch) will get a bump up in their play. DSJr will fight it the most and Mitch/Frank have the best shots at staying long term.

I totally agree. Frank and Mitch will get their play elevated due to Thibs. Knox has a good chance to follow suit. I think DSJr is a little too thin skinned for what is coming.
On a side note with the Taskmaster... I can't wait for Black Widow!

Now we've hired Kenny Payne, let's see how Knox does with a season of actually being coached and developed- Fiz was terrible for him.

Mudiay? But yea... literally some of worst coaching I have seen. There are guys who are not effective, and there are guys who are terrible. We learned everything we needed to know when he started Trier/RJ cause phuck dem PGs
