Glad we are contemplating him (doubt he comes here, Hawks would be a great fit for him), and VanVleet
I think this is where Leon Rose and World Wide Wes come into play, FVV and Bertans is a tier 2 or 3 type free agents, if they can lures them here maybe we can start believing they can bring a superstar to the knicks in next year's blockbuster free agent class. This offseason will be a good dry run to see what they can bring to the table.
I would like for them too draft Okoro and sign Bertans in free agency. Then give Frank and DSJ a chance can o be the point guard of the team.(Frank as starter, DSJ the back up)

Problem is then you have starting lineup with only 1 shooter, I don't think that can work

Not that it’s very important today, but I’m told to take yesterday’s report that the Knicks are expected to pursue Davis Bertans with a grain of salt. This is not to say that New York wouldn’t be interested in his services - I have no reason to believe they wouldn’t be - but I have the sense that they know Washington is willing to overpay to keep him (especially since they refused to part with him at the deadline) and that this may not be of interest. Remember always: player agents have every incentive to create the illusion of a bidding war for their client’s services.That’s not to say the Knicks don’t have getting a stretch-four as a high priority. As Ian Begley has reported for months, I’m told it is.

Marcus Morris (seems to be playing well in the playoffs for the Clips, won't settle for a 1 year deal again)
Gallo (will be expensive- turned down big numbers offered by Miami)
Short term stop gaps (could maybe get away with a 1-2 year deal):
Milsap (links to Perrin, over 41% from three, 35 years old)
Ibaka (his name was mentioned months ago, hehad a resurgence in a contract year, but mainly from moving to C spot. shot 39% from 3, 30 years old) I think Raptors stump up to keep their team together another year.

His fit is terrible but he's a Kentucky guy and a CAA guy (2 reasons he will get some preferential treatment) and i think there's probably a concern that moving him would involve attaching picks or taking on a long-term deal. He has one year left. Maybe they can use this opportunity to see what he's like as a backup 4/5 for a year. His poor fit is due to playing PF between Mitch and RJ. As a 6th man where he can be the focal point of the offense, fit is less of a concern.
I'm still torn with Randle, because he has more value than people think. He Ave 19 and 9 on a poorly spaced team and is only due 1 more year with a team option. I feel if thibs can coach boozer, he can coach Randle, but at the same time, his long term fit with mitch and rj is meek, and like I said previously, I would trade him for a player like cp3 where we can get a winning player to show the ropes to the young guys esp rj and frank
If Randle is willing to accept a 6th man role then keep him. He'd do so much damage coming off the bench.

Agreed. He should play most of his minutes at center too. Figure behind mitch he gets around 20 mpg there, and can play another 8 or so alongside Mitch.

The knick's are full steam ahead on Wagner, a stretch BIG, which should give you a very good idea of the kind of big they want to roll with.
Secondly, if you put randle on the bench then who's starting in his place...KNOX?

I would be cool with this trade.
As well as with signing Bertans, for as long as the price tag is reasonable (not the $20m plus people are willing to shell out for FVV). Maybe this will bring back the Latvian night at the Garden that was so abruptly cancelled in the wake of the KP trade (was there ever more inept and pathetic pandering to the team's star?).
Makes sense for utah as Clarkson fits better with Mitchell vs. Conley.
Don't mind the trade as Conley is close to expiring and gives us stability at point

This would be a good deal for us IMO. Conley is solid choice to play alongside the guys you want to develop, like Barrett. Great veteran presence with commitment to defense. Taking on that salary isn't really an issue for us. I prefer this to the Chris Paul deal, I think.

Worse than us having no shot at the greek freak is his landing spots could be: Miami Heat (think Riley's plan is Butler, Oladipo and Giannis), Dallas Mavs, Golden State (they'd have to trade whoever they draft this year, along with Twolves 2021 pick and Wiggins)

I'd love Conley if we feel like VanVleet isn't realistic. Honestly randle for Conley is a dream scenario. He's a great fit with RJ and would provide great leadership and stability on a 1-year contract.
