I still wish we took that flyer on KPJr. He was probably a head case but the talent was clear. Not tripping tho as I think we can snatch our own KPJ in this draft.

The top 4 in this year’s draft I think are pretty much set. In some order, Cade, Suggs, Mobley, Green/ Kuminga.

But I do think that there is opportunity to pick up under the radar quality. Scouting / FO been producing lately.

Kpjr was the 30th pick in a crap draft so it’s definitely possible. I’m also making a direct reference to James Bouknight

Yeah, but Porter's drop was due to his "issues." I think our part of the draft is the part where it's acceptable to make gambles like that. It's one of the few people things, maybe the only, thing Isaiah excelled at as GM.

Yeah we need a guy who is in strip clubs in the early morning hours, with his teammate who is covered in blood after getting a bottle smashed on his head, and then arguing with police.

No boneheads please.

These western teams have been messing up Mavs pick for weeks- infuriating!

Wonder what impact that club incident has on him, I think his dad died in a similar situation (trying to help someone who was being beaten up in a bar):

Porter Sr. grew up hard. In 1993, he was charged with first-degree murder at 19 in the point-blank shooting death of a 14-year-old girl. The lone witness later recanted a statement that the shooting was intentional, and Porter Sr. was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for first-degree manslaughter. He served his sentence and became a young father, but tragedy struck again in 2004. According to Porter Jr.’s mom, Ayanna, his father was trying to help someone who was getting beat up at a bar when he was shot five times and killed. Porter Jr. was just 4 years old when it happened, which is why he wears no. 4. Soon after he arrived at USC on a basketball scholarship, one of the assistant coaches, Martin Bahar, referred to him as just “Kevin Porter” in conversation. Porter Jr. immediately cut him off: “Junior.” His Instagram captions often end with the hashtag “#RIPBIGKP.”

Watched the POR @ BKN game. Without KD,& Harden they look very vulnerable ( defensively) and a very average ( offensively ) team. If they don’t get at least one of those two back I wouldn’t bet against an early playoff exit.
To be fair have to keep in mind, Dame was pretty awesome. That Powell kid looks strong also, good pick up for POR.

That's why it's acceptable to gamble late in the first-round and second-round. If the guy continues to be a bonehead, you just right it off. Kinda like the Dotson situation. Personally, I don't have a problem with the Knicks not wanting to go after Porter when he was in Cleveland. But I could understand their rationale if they did.

Chemistry and commitment seem to have everything to do with the Knicks' surprising success. I understand the concept of taking a flyer, but I appreciate it if management is being conscious of what they have.

FFS! every day the teams we need to win lose, and vice versa! Now the Mavs are pretty much a lock for 6th place and above in the west
smackeddog @ 5/2/2021 5:05 AM
OKC lose by 57 points- just pathetic levels of tanking from the organization sending the message to the players not to bother trying. Think teams should have to refund fans their ticket money if they lose by more than 30

As much as I want the Mavs to fail, you have to give them a ton of credit for picking it up when it would be easy to cave in. Guessing it has a lot to do with their head coach and star. Doesn’t seem to be contingent on the presence of their “Robin.”

Carmelo Anthony 23 points from cracking Top 10 all time list. Amazing accomplishment.

What's also amazing is that, after checking out the all time list, Durant is sitting at 27, Harden 33, and Westbrooke at 36.
Crazy to think that those three were all team mates at one point can very well finish top 10 all time when their career is done.

If Mav’s lose, they Will have identical record with Knicks and blazers. 5-6-7 all tight out west.
Mavs’,lakers,Blazers..........before tonite.
Clean @ 5/3/2021 8:14 AM
Looking at Lonzo's last game got me thinking about my perfect situation. If we can someway sign Lonzo and trade draft capital for Zach Lavine. While bringing Rose, Reggie, Burks and Nerlens back I will be extremely happy with this team on our fight to win a ring. I would even enjoy it more than if we would have signed KD, Kyrie and Harden. Nothing feels better than building a championship contender the right way.
