Guy can be a bit nutty but he can ball..still only 27. Not sure what we would have to give up for him.
fwk00 @ 11/13/2020 12:27 AM
There's a rumor that there are no Schroeder rumors. Even Berman isn't reporting the non-rumor.
TLover @ 11/13/2020 12:32 AM
Thinking Randle & Smith Jr for Schroeder & Ferguson could do it.
We keep our 1st rounders; picking the best available wing with the 8th pick.
Move Knox to the 4.. we can having the following starting 5:

Pg: Schroeder
Sg: Barrett
Sf: Okoro/Vassel/Neismith
Pf: Knox
C : Robinson

Sorry can’t pull up site but from Hoops Central - whatever source that is.

Decent backup PG for a good team, but not starter quality. Kinda overpaid lately. One year left on his contract. Completely useless to us this year. What's the point of giving up assets for him?

He’s a good shooter. Knicks need as many shooters as they can get. If all it takes is Randle and/or DSJ sure

Chandler @ 11/13/2020 12:04 PM
not sure if there's a rumor but don't mind starting one

i would be behind this move. he plays w swagger and can complement the team

So now we're starting rumors that our rebuilding efforts have been so successful that we're no longer interested in winning basketball games but we have joined the ranks of consulting companies.

"Given our cap space we can now help you - that's right - YOU [Who? Me?] - rebuild your disappointing team!"

Send us your tired, your overpaid, your often confused - just send along some picks as well.

Okc wants to shed Paul so they can start Schroeder. That why I'm against getting CP3. They want to expedite what they are doing over there.

We keep our 1st rounders; picking the best available wing with the 8th pick.
Move Knox to the 4.. we can having the following starting 5:

Pg: Schroeder
Sg: Barrett
Sf: Okoro/Vassel/Neismith
Pf: Knox
C : Robinson

Only downside do trade I proposed is the extra year on Randle’s contract.
They will need to replace Gallanari and can have D. Smith jr groom under Paul.

Besides getting a legit scoring point guard (that we need) we free up more cap space for 2021.

Wait, why is OKC trading 2 serviceable players for our trash?

Would not call Randle trash.. he is a better/younger player than Gallo who is a free agent.
D. Smith can learn under Paul and Schroeder is not resigning with OKC.

I'm not comfortable with penciling Knox anywhere. We'd need to find an option at the four.

4s are easier to find than 1s as the Knicks know very well.

I meant a four who doesn't cause my eyes to bleed the minute they cross the half-court line, you know, like anyone not named Julius Randle.

For me, Randle is a steal at his current salary, production and age. Many seem to rule out the importance of coaching in molding a player to perform at his highest potential. Something we did not have the last couple of years. As for Shroder, he is a good player. But do not see him affecting the needle much compared to Payton, Smith or Frank at the PG. Do like his 3pt percentage but that comes along with the type of game that takes away form others on the rotation. He averaged over 14 shots per game and is less of a set up PG.

I would be more focused on stretch 4's and solid 3pt shooters. Unless its a PG like VV.

We already have a playmaker in Barrett.. give him free reign to do that while a guy like Schroeder (who is cheaper & I think younger than Van Fleet) to be a scoring point guard - who can shoot.
Would totally focus on a guy who can shoot with our 8th pick - hence Vassell or Neismith.

VV is 25, Schroder is 26. But yeah, VV will be more costly. Still like VV though. But only if price is not out of hand.

Can't say I agree about RJ. I do hope your right but if we look at last year Randle and Morris were our main scorers and the ones other defenses focused on. RJ slashed off their involvement. RJ definitely has the potential to be our main play maker but just do not think we can say that after just one year. Especially if he does not improve his free throw and 3pt shooting. Regardless, my point was that a trade involving Randle for Schroder does not change much in terms of wins. Secondly, he walks after 2020-21 season. So if we really like him, we can pick him up without giving anything up in return in one years time. If Knicks feel they desperately need a PG that can shoot now, they can always go out and get one in FA. Dragic, Augustin are ones I have talked about. The latter would come really cheap.

In terms of shooters, agree, that we should try to get some in the draft. Have said that on other threads. Although with the 8th I think the priority should be to draft the best player available. There are several athletic big men who, although are not great shooters, will be bigger difference makers in the league. With that said, would not be mad if we traded down and rolled the dice with Bey or Nesmith. But also feel FA is probably a better place to pick up PROVEN shooters. Think the addition of 2 or 3 solid shooter is more important than adding a PG that can score.

Well there goes that rumor. Lol. DS got traded to LA for Danny Green.

We could've had him if that's the package the Lakers are giving. No big loss.
