2023 is the year High Schoolers can be drafted straight to the NBA again. That's the reasoning I think, great forward thinking by the FO.
Sorry but still doesn’t make much sense. If you tell me they gain TWO second rounders that year, ok. But this move is really weird as it is.

"A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush" seems to apply here.
Strange move.

I have to assume they had someone targeted who got sniped so had to scramble, they also may like some UDFAs this year and just don't have the roster spots for someone they don't love.
Plus the high school aspect should make that draft some measure stronger. Have to assume a dozen or so viable prospects will be added to the player pool?
IDK, just spitballing here!
Edit: apparently they were targeting vernon carey, I actually like Oturo better.
Still not official Oruro is still a knick
man I was about to give us a a+ but to trade oturu for nothing is a head scratcher
Odd- after all the hype about Perrin and our new scouts, we ended up drafting the guy Rose had links to all along and a Kentucky guy with links to KP and Wes, then didn’t bother with our second rounder
Isn't that the year that high school seniors become eligible for the draft?

Next year’s draft is supposed to be loaded.. I bet there’s more to the desk but I would rather have an extra pick next year than this year
Wouldn’t that be 2022 and not the reported 2023?
Still makes no sense.
yeah, I guess that's right... draft and drinking don't always mix lol.. MattSuspect posted what I meant to say (i think)

Interesting..
SI said Knicks got the guy they wanted in Quickly then wanted Vernan Carey Jr. who went at 32 to Chi. When that happened knicks dumped Oturu. They wanted who they wanted. They obviously did not think much of anyone else.
That's not stupid. That's SPECIFIC.
