Knicks · Should the new Regime be complimented or feared for their loyalty to CAA guys? (page 2)

Yeah but the triangle angle was real and the CAA/Kentucky angle seems real this time too. Like the fact Leon Rose kid was secretly one of Obi’s handlers for CAA and Rose was trying to trade up for him to get him and by default give him a higher rookie salary is disturbing. The fact the Knicks signed MKG who averaged 3pt and 3rb last year disturbing. Also why is Theo Pinsion taking up a 2-way contract spot on the roster? Also the other 2-way contract went to another CAA client as well.
Why are the Knicks using valuable roster space on CAA/Kentucky reclamation projects only?
At the very least CAA/Kentucky ties has made the Front office lazy in scouting or bias in scouting. At the worst this is outright corruption/nepotism and CAA is once again treating MSG like a trick to get money out of.
Like Klutch LA has a bias but they seem to put winning first, and have been clear with their goals (Get AD and win a championship). CAA Knicks plan is to sign CAA/Kentucky players, coaching, and staff. That’s all I see right now.
Oh another positive Woj will be more positive about the Knicks because he finally has a inside source in Thibs who will feed him information to tweet about. So no more tacky JR Smith / Phil Jackson hit job articles from him because he’s pissed he doesn’t have a inside source on the Knicks. That’s a positive because it’s not like Shams is just as good as Woj now, younger, and he doesn’t ego trip and have Tantrums if he doesn’t have a source.
If the Knicks spiral even further into the abyss of basket ball, it will reflect very poorly on Leon Rose. His name and any connection to the knicks are going to be tarnished for a long time. I'm not sure it benefits CAA that much long term to con the knicks for contracts.
It's going to be more brutal if it becomes apparent he favors his connections irrationally.
For now, one can disagree with his choices (I'm very afraid of Toppin's defense for example) but they are not totally absurd.

You saved your biggest roster move complaints for the 16th man who will likely get cut and 2-way contract dude with dance moves like this?

Martin this maybe true, but there are so many other positions that need a massive upgrade from a talent stand point.
Nothing you can do in the locker room to escape the misery of losing 85% of your games

If you feel like you can identify 2-way contract players that would help the team, please send email to Leon.

There are about 450 NBA players in the entire world, and we wasted at least three of the spots on the Knicks for nepotism and dance moves.... yeah I am going to call it out

That's boring and useless. If you have some better plan, lay it out for us.
You are calling out a 2-way contact

Nine of the 12 players acquired/signed/drafted by Leon Rose since he took over as team president are either CAA clients or former Kentucky players.
You think this is a coincidence.
We're talking bottom of the rotation players.

I am pretty sure he wanted him on a non drafted player contract

This is actually my point. Martin is stressing the names I gave but 9 out of 12 players brought here were CAA since he started and that basically feeds into my point.
Ya’ll forget how CAA use to run the Knicks that included signing guys like Chris Smith and making sure Woodson (who they brought back) was signed to CAA before he was made the permanent head coach. CAA has a history with MSG that consists of them tricking off contracts from the Knicks for their clients.

It's not just the players, it's the coaching staff and FO..
Under the Walsh Regime, I think he hired one of his own. You remember walsh right, it was the last time the knicks made the playoffs and were relevant..

Walsh was pretty much gone the last time we made the playoffs and so was
Woodson, who switched representation to CAA was coach. What does it mean? Nothing we didn't already know. I had some concerns with the Rose hiring when it was announced, but I can't really feign anger with anything he's done so far.
ramtour420 wrote:Just tell me already who signed JR's brother to a contract. Was that the CAA? If yes then they should be feared.
Search your feelings...you know it to be true.

I’ll never forget that.
If Rose effectively rebuilds the FO. The drafting is successful, trades are effective. The team from all appearances is on the upswing. The big CAA clients Rose whiffed on wont matter, because there wont be a shortage of all-stars who want to play here.
The only way I see the CAA connection as a negative, is if the Knicks become a desirable location again. and Rose passes on trying to sign FAs who are clearly better than the CAA clients, he ends up inking. Dont see that as a likelihood. Believe Rose wants to win.
Was concerned about this old boys club stuff when Rose was hired. Believe its too soon to say if its nothing more than another regime rewarding friends. Dont believe anyone will care if the Ws start piling up.
