Mitch practiced a few days then left the mini cap for “personal reasons”. Might have been covid, or might have bumped heads.
Videos of Mitch hoisting 3’s might be passive aggressive by him. Let’s not fool ourselves, this kid wants to get paid. They all do. Do I doubt his heart? ONly what I read. Thats all we got.

We watched him play last year he seemed to certainly play with heart

Nope https://www.instagram.com/frank_ntilikin...

I do think it seems like he doesn't put extra effort in in the offseason, but he is young and quite sensitive- hope we don't mishandle him.
Van Gundy hoping the Knicks are dumb enough to shop Mitch and trade him to his brother in New Orleans
My understanding of Mitch on team USA was that he was a longshot to make the team anyway because they wanted floor spacers. Personally,I wanted Mitch to leave and not get dinged up. I think the irony is that they could've really used Mitch. One of the reasons team USA lost is because none of their "stretch" bigs could hit the side of a barn or defend the paint during the tournament. They also had key injuries and had the misfortune of running into FIBA Frank.

I think the personal emergency was that Mitch's mom was having a kid.

I think they said he deleted the bio, not the entire account. Frank has always been a dead man walking here. Just hope he's not thrown into some stupid package for Buddy Hield or something.

good because having Frank survive this long only to lose him the minute Thibs comes onboard would be a phucking travesty. I dont really have any individual expectations for Mitch/Frank/Knox/RJ/DS but I DO EXPECT them to take a big step forward as a group under this coaching staff. I am not convinced that Frank/DS are starting caliber players but with some quality coaching they certainly strike me as guys who can be good rotation players.
Frank is the perfect example of a player who is drafted way too young and underdeveloped - both physically and mentally - whereby he should have been stashed or properly placed in a better version of what the GLeague is today.
It's unfortunate because rookie contracts are so set in stone and from a $$ and marketing perspective, I'd guess that his agents and family would have the opposite take and it has probably hurt his career.
Only finally figured out his body over past year or so, mentally probably not there yet as a lead PG, needs to sell himself as a lead PG for next contract, would be better off long term to take a more limited role as a defender and off ball handler for another year but can't, etc. etc.

Hes 22. A year younger than Marcus Smart when he got paid. Thats my hope for Frank's next step. He can be an incredibly important player if he can establish himself as a good backup PG. Thats 15 minutes a night or so as the backup and potentially another 10-20 minutes a night in small line ups where he's a defensive beast and hitting the 3 at league average. If he could do that you resign him to this cap's version of what Smart got (about 4 years at $15mm/per)
regarding mitch, i can imagine him being a bit upset with Nerlens. mitch just broke Wilt's record and we brought in a guy who is probably going to be a challenge to start . mitch will need to rise to that challenge
i can see rj/frank/dsj and elf looking at austin and IQ similarly
the bottom line is we have sucked for years, and i have no problem with a coach who insists on earning minutes and being a bit candid in his assessment
a lot of our guys could end up out of the league in short order under their current trajectory. last thing they should be thinking about is their contract terms -- might be no contract at all (at least not in English)
My biggest hope is that Thibs plays guys to their strengths. Our prior coaches did not do that well or at all. E.g., took a tall pg who can't shoot well but may him a sg -- dumb
if you look at thibs and the bulls he had a lot of players who were not "complete" and still won games. Rose had no good outside shot, defense? Noah had no shot at all. Taj no shot. They were all competitors though and Thibs put them in a position to contribute. Hopefully we recpature some of that, play some team ball and have guys doing what they do best, as best as they can do that.
I'm pulling for all our younguns no question -- but anyone who is mentally weak, non-team oriented, etc. can take a hike no problem. If weeding them out is a part of Thibs' job description then good.

Someone on Reddit used the Way back machine on Frank's Insta account, and apparently he never had a bio. I know 1248 is relieved.
Holy freaking Jesus. If the Knicks trade Frank now for some scrub I’m gonna throw up
Let Obi score like crazy as a rookie and surround him with guys who play D like Frank, Mitch, Quickley and Noel- that should be the strategy

If I had twins i was going all in and giving them the same name, bring identical twins to a new level
Ha,the league is helping us with the tank as best it can, though no fans in the stands may diminish the home court advantage
What was all that BS about less travel?!
Though maybe that means we sink without a trace the first half of the season, then have a boost the second half with all the home games, giving us some momentum and the look of an improving team

Cade!!!
Oh, and also a good opportunity for our young players to get a first look at life on the road in the NBA.

I’d do Leon and Noel. Palindrome names for the palindrome kids.

Typical bs from the league. Just try to stay a few games under .500 then make a run in the second half

We should be tanking. I hope the opposite by the second half the knicks are full on “play the youth” mode

Second half or second week?
