Knicks · Players are treating the Knicks like the league treated MELO (page 1)
They watch how other players come here and get worse, they watch how we treated KP and Melo, they watch coaches careers get shattered, they watched Oak get toss out of MSG, and spike get harassed for petty sht, they watched our BS development program, the instability.
I cant believe that some of you are not the least bit concern about repeating this process over and over again. Put together a YMCA squad and hope we hit the lottery...3 coaches and 2 presidents have been fired from this franchise in 5 yrs for the same process.
The 100 Million dollar we gave Amare was a bad contract, but he attracted tyson and Melo and felton, and phil comes in and has a fire sale
Melo (HOF) resigned for 22 mill (at the time seemed like a lot of doe for him) - 3yrs later players were signing 40+ mill per deals..
Cp's contract is so bad, yet he's been traded twice
We can't get a break in the lottery result, can't land a premier FA.

The other stuff (Oakley, Melo etc.) is out of Leon's control. Talk to the owner about that.
Keeping Payton made some sense since he was familiar with team & organization. He had some nice games.

I would have liked FVV too, but $21m over four years is a long time. Is he carrying the Knicks to the playoffs? Plus, he made it known through back channels that he wanted to stay in Toronto. Who knows? Maybe a Mike Conley falls of the back of the drop and we can just absorb him? Maybe get a pick out of it? Sounds a lot better than what Mills would've done, which is panic and give Gordon Hayward a three year, $200M deal.
Payton/DSJ/Ntlikina
Barrett/Quikley
Burk/Bullock/Knox/Brazdeikus
Randle/Toppin
Robinson/Davis
Bogdonovic would be a nice add if Barrett could run SF. He might need too much money.
I would want to bring in Willie Cauley Stein. I had real high hopes for him.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist would be a good defensive presence
If Oklahoma wanted to move George Hill again, He would be a better PG than anyone on our roster.

Peyton sucks, thats perrys boy, stop acting like you wanted him back..
NOBODY relevant WANTS TO COME HERE regardless of the money, we are not an option
4 yrs ago we landed frank in the lottery (does that seem like a long time ago) you could have paid him 50 mill per and it wouldn't have matter because we blew the money on BS players on 1 yr deals anyway. and we were in the lottery every yr.
Cap flexibility means your a losing team with no stability

Hahaha, notice I went out of my way not to mention Payton. It doesn't need to be said how much he sucks. My point is that you have no idea who might become available during the season and you want to be prepared. You have to lose first, before you win.

Your whining. Its kind of pathetic really.
So who “rejected” knicks? Who thinks of Oak and Spike and walked away? Haywood? Please. Do you know why nobody is concerned like you? few think in terms of knicks like some poor victim.
Knicks created this and in the past tried short cuts.
Knicks are being smart. You might not like this front office because you link them to others. Thats yours to do what you want with.
Frank was a rookie three years ago, not four. 2017 draft. Get over yourself.

Unless you want to keep giving the Julius Randles 2x their market value, you have to punt. I have no problem either way if the contracts can be moved quickly. Yes, sometimes you have to overpay. But tell me who is worth overpaying this year? You keep flexible cap space and wait for the right trade to come along. I'd rather be cheap than overpay for crap.

Melo deserves credit for being the only superstar within the past 20 years who had the courage to play in NY

Van Vleet was staying in Toronto no matter what.

Build through the draft, stay way under the cap and hope in the next 3 years either an actual Superstar UFA decides to come to New York instead of being a p ssy and playing in some small market in the Western Conference no one cares about or we can get a superstar in a salary dump

What is Leon Doing that's different from the last 2 presidents that got fired?
He didn’t sign a free agent just to sign one THJR. He didn’t draft Knox. He didn’t sign a player like Randle who doesn’t play in a team concept for more than a year. He didn’t give a hype man a head coaching job.
There hasn’t been anything he’s done yet that hasn’t made sense to date. He’s brought in good scouts, strong assistant coaches and a real head coach. Toppin is going to contribute right away, he drafted a solid point guard and added a few more second rounders down the road.
It’s a short season with no one in the stands and an unbelievable draft class on the horizon. We have two guys we need to extend qualifying offers too, we give them time, work with Knox and build value.
More importantly we didn’t just flip Mitch for a stupid prospect. The guys jumper looks solid, RJ is likely busting his ass. We are bad, but lost a lot of games because of Fizdale early in the season. Thibs will stabilize and turn the ship in the right direction.

Well unlike Phil he's in the building and awake. I don't think Perry did a terrible job he got fired because he believed Kevin Durant and his handler when they indicated to him he wanted to come here - dumb mistake from my perspective because Durant does not have the mental stability to handle NY. If Durant did somehow end up signing here like he had been saying for years he would Perry would absolutely still be the GM.
