My worry is those blood clots he had a year or so ago, very odd- wouldn’t want him to go the way of Chris Bosh. If Pelicans don’t want to re-sign him, that would be a major red flag for me

Ingram has to apply the pressure to want to be out. If he gets Max money he is soft of the man and there would be a nice balance to their team. Adams and Zion Is not a great fit but to kick it out to JJ and Ingram is intense contrast and Ball is the ringleader. I don’t see Ingram taking less money “to be the man” if he paid like one in Nola. Zion’s durability is still a question time will answer.

I would like to see a first round pick or two coming the Knicks' way in such a trade. I think RJ will turn out to be a better player than Ingram, plus Ingram takes up more cap space, though he has already accomplished a lot of what we would like to see from RJ.
I also think RJ has the potential to end up a better player than Ingram, but Ingram already appears to be there. The key for RJ is obviously refining his touch a few ticks. It happens for some players, doesn’t for others. (We see 25/26yo Elfrid Payton searching for a reliable jumper - he has to know that shooting 40%+ from 3 would transform him into a 15m+/yr player. All these guys know that.
I think if you can get a young star like Ingram for RJ, you have to at least listen.

It makes 100% sense from our perspective but 0 sense from Ingram's. He put up career numbers and won most improved player on a young, talented team that is way ahead of us on the rebuilding curve. He's also playing alongside a generational player. Why would he want to leave and come here?
I think you sit tight. If I'm the Knicks, I'm not ready to sign Ingram to a max deal. It's not that he may not be worth it, its that the team is not there yet. And I would also like to see what RJ turns into. He's just scratching the surface. It looks like the Knicks are trying to build through the draft and stay away from lengthy, bloated contracts. I'm sure they will make a run at Giannis and other big name FAs but the goal right now is to develop your own talent and once you are a player or two away go after the big name FAs. The next two drafts have great talent and the Knicks have plenty of draft capital.

Signing Ingram to the max is a waste of time. New Orleans is going to match and why would Ingram want to leave that situation to come here. This is a pipe dream.

It's only bad because there is no currently big name player on that team. Kind of have to get used to the fact that they are not luring anyone here. There is no white knight coming to save this team. It is going to be dependent on developing young talent and it is a slow process. I think this lineup would be a good starting point. That lineup can definitely use a better bench, but the starting 5 has potential. I think its a line up that in a regular 82 game season can get you around .500 (over/under) if all goes well.

You're adding a beyond-defensive rookie project and Lonzo and that gets you from 20-something wins to 40 something wins? But maybe the Thibs effect is good for that drastic of a change...

Here are my reasons:
1. An actual PG orchestrating the offense.
2. Thibs style minimizes the shooting weaknesses they have.
3.Lonzo/Rivers is a better rotation than Last year's PG mess.
4.Bullock/Burks is a better SG combo than the mess from last year.
5.RJ can play SF, where he should.
6.RJ also won't be asked to run the offense as a Rookie SG.
7.Thibs is a better coach than Mike Miller and Fizdale.
8.Minimal improvement from DSJ, Knox. They can't play any worse right?
They won 21 games in a 66 game season (21-45). Roughly a 33% clip. Add 16 games. 1/3 of that is about another 5 wins. So they would 26-56 if the percentage holds up. I said around .500, should have been more clear. I meant anywhere between 38 to 42 wins. Maybe 43 or 44 if you get RJ playing like Paul Pierce and Mitch playing like Camby and Lonzo doing his absolute best Jason Kidd impression of a guy impersonating Jason Kidd.
i may be in the minority but do not want Brandon. Strikes me as another Wigging, Lavine type -- too cool for school and you're never sure if they love the game willing to do the little things.
some of the suggestions about Lonzo make sense (running with Obi and Mitch) but frankly i'm more excited to see what IQ can bring. He won't be as flashy as Lonzo when it comes to passing but expect him to be effective
