Best Case Scenario
1. Knox turns into a rotation player and shoots it over 37% from downtown
2. Toppin averages 12pts and 5rbs
3. Emmanuel gets backup minutes and proves he can get to the basket and shoot from the outside
4. Inflate value of Randle and DSJR and seek assets in return
5. Get Buddy Hield to the garden in a mid season trade
I really think Mitch and RJ will improve offensively as both have been working hard. We don’t need to make the playoffs just be competitive, play hard and let the league know the Knicks aren’t pushovers and are here to compete.
Obviously winning the lottery would be nice for once in 35 years
What’s nice is that Thibbs had Boozer and Noah and they mirror Mitch and Toppin
I do hope that Thibs is 100% on board with all the front office moves. Before free agency started rumors surfaced that Thibs is pushing hard for win now moves, that didnt happen. Their might be friction between Thibs and Rose because of this.
Last year we missed out on Zion, this year a player similar to Zion's skill set fell on the lap of the knicks, I expect Obi 1 will bring excitement back to MSG, finally we might have found KPs replacement in terms of drawing the crowd and bringing excitement to knicks fans.
Im hoping to see some of Frank, DSJ, knox, Noel's potentials start to be unlocked this season. Some NBA executives think the knicks have a worse line up this season than last year. Im hoping everyone buys in to Thibs' philosophy and surprise the league with their performance.
This season is mostly about RJ-Obi-Mitch. With interest in Frank-Knox-Smith. But if RJ-Obi-Mitch look really good then a guard is gonna wanna play with them for lob city.
Interesting battles at 3 positions....or 2 if we keep Randle, assuming he starts at PF.
Mitch
Randle?
RJ
Bullock?
Payton?

That play had a league top notch degree of unpredictability!!! But seriousl,y we are about to become lob city 2.0 ... Mr. Lobinson, Obi and Noel are all above the rim players extraordinaire. Payton actually had a nice lob connection with Mr. Lobinson. Both Quickly and Rivers are great at lob passes. That's one takeaway

Yup saw a vid by BBall breakdown on Thibs offense where they run a bit of high low action with bigs so as others have said we should see more competent basketball for sure

I really expected us to do what the hawks did and surround our youth with the type of winning vets.
last yr we had 6 pf
this yr 6 pg....NONE ARE CONSIDER TRUE PG'S you cant play 6 guards, so DSJ and FRANK may not see any real minutes
This is Perry hard at work.
Of course you want to see players take their game to the next level, thats the goal every single game, so that question is pretty obvious.
Do i need to post another Rainman .Gif?
You really still believe Perry makes all the decisions for this new group?
I'm hoping for no injuries during pre season. Seems like every year Frank has nagging hamstring, or something like that. I want everyone healthy enough to get a fair evaluation and our management makes proper moves come the trade deadline.
Want to see Thibs create an identity for the team, and see a recognizable system on the offensive end.
And individual progress from all our younger players, of course.
1.) top priority: see if barrett is capable of being the number 1 option. he is a scorer so we need to establish him as such and build a system that shows his capabilities. he has succeeded in most levels as a high end scorer so he should do it here.
2.) expand on robinsons growth. he is an athletic center who can block everywhere on the floor. he is better with his fouls but he must be better in rebounding. he also have to establish a reliable short jumper to keep the defense honest.
3.) see what we have in knox. he has another shot to establish himself and show that the summer league was no fluke. he has the tools to be at least an average player so he has to show it or he is out of the league soon.
4.) get assets for randle. believe it or not randle could be a valuable trade asset because a.) its a friendly contract and b.) he is a capable scorer in the league. he shouldnt be the first option of a team but he can be a good third option on a team making the next leap. we could get more draft capital which is what we seemed to be collecting.
5.) pg frenzy. we have many young point guards who were high draft picks and showed flashes of promise. we have to see if they improved. dsj became worse last season but he was a couple of seasons removed from being a promising point guard. i havent given up on him but it wasnt all the coaches fault too. he admitted his training wasnt up to par and he was eating unhealthy so he has to show the desire too. frank is what he is. he is an almost elite perimeter defender who can defend three positions which is valuable but he is a liability on the offensive end because he still cant shoot and drive. his passing isnt the greatest either. these two have to take the reins from payton, who has major flaws on his own.
6.) show improvement throughout the year but not TOO much. this is the year that we can accept not being good and getting in the playoffs. this draft is said to be one of the best drafts since the lebron james draft meaning we can get a franchise changing player if we stay in the lottery. we need that as well as luck. we will struggle in the beginning because our roster isnt good at all. but if we establish the roles and show improvement and chemistry especially with toppin, robinson and rj then we accomplish a lot.
side goals: toppin making an all nba rookie team and a legit rookie of the year candidate, rj avg at least 20ppg, toppin and rj involved in the future all star game ( if they have it this year), quickley becoming part of the rotation by the end of the year, robinson leads the league in blocks and stay on the floor for around 30 mpg
I’m still a little perplexed by the Rivers signing. I don’t think he’s better than Dotson and don’t like the idea of taking minutes away from young guys that we need to play to inflate value for a future trade.
