Sure, we didn't fix the PG position, but at least we retained Payton as opposed to letting him go and not replacing.

Without thibs. Yes we got better. Instead of having a team full of 1yr forwards. We have a balance of young players with a chip on their shoulders at every position. So the future is brighter. We cant depend on FA all the time. We have to develop a team environment that will develop the young, while continuing to have cap flexibility.

Last year....It was 1 yr players fighting for the same position. This yr we have a balance of players fighting for multiple positions.

You telling your age. Thats what guards are today. They are scoring PGs....aka combo guards. So I dont get your comment.

There are several players who could start on any team. But right now we have a mix of journey men and rookies. There are some vets that used to start on other teams. And rookies like toppin will eventually become a starter. But whats your point? We are in a development era.

What makes this team better is that the rookies have an environment to play... instead of looking over their shoulders and wondering which PF will take their time away.

I love the direction we are heading or continue to head. This is not about the players or coaches. Its about the impatient fans that don't know how to appreciate a youth movement. How to stop comparing a team full of vets vs a young up and coming team of hungry young players.

We have improved a lot. We have kept our biggest asset, which is the cap space. We have maximized our youth with the draft and we have added to our flexibility with shrewd moves to get draft picks. This is one of the best offseason in recent history.

And the way we are moving, we could be ready to strike big as early as next offseason. If we play as most believe we will, we’ll count on a lottery pick where we will most probably grab the final main piece of our youth core, along with more talent with other picks. We will have more than the space we had this season to either sign a big free agent or make a move for a star, which should be more possible after a year of progress for our young core along with the high expectations of whoever we draft in 2021.

I think this all is very exciting. We might not win much, but watching the youth improve and learn while giving us exciting moments will make this season easier to follow. And the expectation of that next draft, the one that may give us the final young piece we need while allowing us to start getting more established help with the cap space will all be very exciting.

Have we not been patient with Knox and frank, and look what happen to DOTSON, another young player drafted by the knicks not resigned by the knicks

Why do you think our young guys struggle to develop?

Do you see any team in the NBA that is going to camp with 7 or 8 combo guards (with almost all of them not sign through next season)

Do you see any true Veteran Leaders on this squad, do you even see a player you can call the CAPTIN. Is knox going to take Obi under his wing, is frank and dsj the leaders, maybe Austin rivers...

We have 2 PF, God forbid anything happens to one, will be down to 1, we are super thin at every position other then guards.

There is nothing balance about this roster by any stretch of the imagination

Thibs cant be dismissed. He's the most important acquisition this offseason along with the developmental staff the front office helped him build out. RJ, Obi and Mitch appear to be starting caliber players but need more development. Frank, Knox, DSjr, Quickley, Iggy are all mysteries but have potential and Pinson and the Seton Hall kid are like walk ons.

The Knicks are NOT contending.

The FASTEST way for the KNicks to get better is for RJ, Mitch, Obi, Frank, Knox, DSjr, Quickley and Iggy all get better and reach their best NBA potential. That is the ONLY thing that matters next season and how fast we get better with hinge on those guys taking solid steps forward.

Thibs has an underrated history of player improvement. I have very high expectations of what our players development will yield for next year. That even includes a guy like Noel taking a bigger role.

Knicks suck because they did not sign Kristaps Porzingis, Kemba Walker, Kyrie Irving or Kevin Durant.

Oh wait, those first 3 contracts are about to look like train wrecks and Durant will be demanding a trade out of Brooklyn in 2 years

A lot of people think the knicks are among the bottom in the league once more, no one stops to consider the effect of the new player development and defense driven coaching staff. I think this roster got more shooters and defensive players. If everyone buys in to what coach thibs wants to do, i think this roster will surprise many!

I’m not going to jump off a bridge because we didn’t sign Fred Van Vleet or give an insane contract to Gordon Heyward

Perry's logic of developing own talent and keeping your gunpowder dry in case we get a shot at a major star seems to be continuing, and I like that.

Of course, there is still that chance of a last-second bonehead signing a la Timmy Jr., but I hope we avoid it this time around.
