Consider this: Mitchell Robinson, entering his third season, already has had six more agents than 3-point shot attempts.

The running tally is 6-0.

Robinson has fired his latest rep — superagent Rich Paul, who represents LeBron James, Anthony Davis — according to an NBA source.

In a Twitter post Friday night, the Los Angeles-based Wasserman Group announced it will take on the enigmatic 7-foot center whom the Knicks would like to build around if they can. According to a source, Wasserman’s Thad Foucher and Joe Smith will work with Robinson, 22.

According to past agents, Robinson, who dropped out of Western Kentucky before fall classes, was difficult to communicate with via text. There’s also been rumblings of his family wanting to be heavily involved.

Robinson’s agent roster started with David Lee before the draft and moved on to Raymond Brothers, John Spencer and Mayar Zokaei. Then Robinson landed with Paul after the season.

Paul told The Post last spring that Robinson still is learning the NBA game.

“His growth comes with understanding how to play the game at this level,’’ Paul said. “That’s what’s misunderstood with young players. At this level, talent will get you only so far. You have to understand schemes defensively, very detailed things like the art of setting screens, the art in decision-making as a big man in how you roll. What passes to look for, proper defensive adjustments. “It’s a lot of things to learn. Once he’s able to learn those things, he’ll then be in position to showcase other talents he has.’’

Maybe the sixth rep will be the charm. In a Zoom interview before it was known about his release from Paul, Robinson sounded excited about the season.

Yet there is still a ton of hope for Robinson, who isn’t a free agent until 2021 but can sign an extension next summer. Knicks GM Scott Perry, who drafted Robinson, feels he has a chance to turn into a very special player — already a terrific shot-blocker with a knack for alley-oop dunks and putback slams.

“Oh man, Year 3, it’s going to be amazing,’’ Robinson said. “ Year 3 is just going to be, I feel like a better me, actually. Just work extra hard, help my teammates.’’

“I feel like it’s going to be a great year for us. Everybody coming in with the right attention. I just feel like everybody’s going to work hard and we all are going to get better as a team so therefore when it’s time for us to play I feel like we’re going to be good from the start.”

When new coach Tom Thibodeau spoke on Dec. 1, his praise for Robinson was tamped down, admitting the talented prospect has “a long way to go.’’ Thibodeau invoked the name of new signee Nerlens Noel as a big center addition. Noel, 26, and Robinson will fight for the starting berth

According to a source, Jeff Van Gundy, a trusted Thibodeau ally, didn’t have a good first impression of Robinson when Robinson was on the U.S. Select team that scrimmaged Team USA’s World Cup squad in 2019.

Robinson had a minor knee injury and sat most of the week of scrimmages.

Asked how his conversations with Thibodeau are going, Robinson said, “They’ve been all right. We talk here and there. After every workout we usually talk. He’s just been giving me what his expectations are. The best way I can learn is just talk to him.

“That’s one of my strengths, defense. [Thibodeau] coming along that’s going to help me a lot, help me, help our guys out.”

Robinson, Taj Gibson’s backup last season, knows the center job is up for grabs with Noel.

“I’m fairly certain he wants to start, I want to start,’’ Robinson said. “We’re just going to go at each other.”

The key lapse in Robinson’s offensive game is reluctance to take a jump shot. He launched just three in his second season and still hasn’t attempted a 3-pointer. He posted a multitude of videos shooting 3s during the pandemic.

“Me coming out shooting 3s isn’t the only thing I want to do, but it helps us out,’’ Robinson said.

Even without a jumper, Robinson managed to set the NBA single-season record for field-goal percentage at 74.2 percent, topping the late, great Wilt Chamberlain.

“It felt great,’’ Robinson said. “A lot of people gave me props for that. One of the best players to ever do it, Wilt Chamberlain. For me to do that, I wish I could’ve met. Unfortunately I didn’t. It’s just amazing to me.’’

Mitch has had trouble finding an agent. I remember he fired his first agent after he took a massive drop in the draft. The agent he had before Paul was also shady as f#@k.

A certified NBA agent faces a federal lawsuit over alleged false claims made about representation of New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson and other players in order to secure a loan from Fundamental Sports Management, according to the complaint reviewed by Front Office Sports.

Zokaei told Patel he’d earn “over $4 million in agent fees from an employment contract for (Robinson),” according to the lawsuit. That’d be impossible since Robinson’s three-year contract is for $4.7 million and the NBA-NBPA collective bargaining agreement caps agents fees at 4% — about $188,000 for Robinson’s current deal.

If the kids and his family focus is one the money it will end bad. Always does.
Once the money is there then what? I don’t know any dynamic about this kid or his family but from the time this kid left high school its been nothing but turbulence for him.
Why am i reading all the time that he wants to take 3pt shots? The money?
Why do we read how smart he is, then a year late we got bad vibes form his efforts?
He left the September mini camp because he had a baby? Or his mother? This a rumor?
If you aspire to be a 100,000,000 talent you don’t do things like he does.

We can paint anything as a negative. Feel like the media is trying to take Robinson from us.

Doesn't seem to be a problem for him on social media. I guessing it means he probably blows them off for some stupid s#*t. He's still a kid. Maybe not the most mature one, but a kid nonetheless.

This kid is all over the place right now. What are his non-financial NBA goals exactly, besides the obvious? How does he envision his game in 3-5 years from now?

BTW... way more times that not, family and business do not mix.

This all may be to light a fire under Mitch’s ass but I see this as a evaluation year with Mitch...can he be properly coached and impact winning like Thibs said...this is showing a seriousness for his job is what Rose and Co want to see....they have to decide to pay Mitch next yr and if he is flaking out and Noel can be 75-85% of him....they are dangling Mitch for a star player or to move up in the draft....no question....they already did it to try and get wiseman...

It is just interesting how these “hit” pieces on Mitch drop at the start of camp...considering Rose and Co have been as tight as a drum...

Agreed....but why get into 6 agents in 3 years....I understand context..but where is that going and why before camp. I understand he has fired his agent..but we do not know the reason...we only know what is on the outside looking in....guys get rid of agents all the time..being comfortable with your representation is important..particularly on the verge of getting paid...

Id be curious to hear what is the main cause of Mitch blowing through all those agents. He's still on his first deal. If he's interested in endorsements, I would imagine he would want to show sponsors, he isnt so impulsive.

If Mitch was already an established star, might be different. I hear good things about this agency called "CAA".

the reality is he is getting vastly underpaid. And if the NYK say hey you signed a contract that will not end well either; nor do they want to pay big money until he demonstrates consistency. i don't think Nelens appearance is an accident. it shows Mitch he's not super unique, and here's a guy who came out at the top of the lottery and is making like 5 million or so in today's market. Exapnd your game; get more professional. We can live without you. Of course that's a bit frightening to fans because we're so devoid of talent but it is the disciplined way

The mini camp in September he came early then left?
Take care of business on the court and the rest will come.
THe college thing? Two weeks and he bolts?
His reputation was he is a bright kid.

Noel does not have Mitch’s potential but I agree that he could be 80%-85% of what Mitch gives and probably at a much cheaper price than what you have to pay Mitch in an extension or new contract. I think the team is in a great position. We have a boatload of assets. We just have trust that Rose can make the right calls on who stays and who goes. I am hoping that Mitch works out. He and Toppin would be a great combo. But in the worst case, Mitch is a big trade asset that might get us the right star next summer or at the deadline, especially if Gannis passes on signing his max contract.

Yeah, I really hope he doesn’t put the Knicks in a bad position this Summer. Hopefully we get a high pick strictly because of luck and not because of completely sucking.... are we forced to draft Mobley when we really could get someone like Suggs? Hopefully this is all small stuff and he take a few steps forward in the games this season.

All of these things tend to lead to worse things though. Hopefully not.

He had a bad experience with his first agent and is now probably on edge because of it

I remember reading that he wants his family involved in his career so maybe they are feeding him some BS they he doesn’t really need to hear. I feel bad for him if that’s the case. After these coaching changes, he probably has no idea how to improve himself. Again, hopefully it’s all just wrong.
