Knicks · Would you have a Problem with Thibs taking over the GM duties as well (page 1)
Perry is basically is the architect of (whats looking like) 3 straight lottery squads , he has not been able to sign a single star, and let's be honest, he has had more Cap space to work with than any other GM in the last 45 yrs, 3 top 10 lottery picks in a row (knox, RJ, OBI), so unless we over achieve or he makes a GAME changing TRADE, he's a goner.
Knowing How close Leon and Thibs are, My guess is the Thib will have a role similar top Popp in SA.
I thought he did a decent Job in Mini with dual roles.
I Lie Perry, I think he's real cool dude, but IMO Perry is just way to conservative, and his prints is all over this off seasons travesty

Really- your going to blame Perry for this year's squad? not the 2 decades of prior resource mismanagement?
BigDaddyG wrote:Did you follow the Timberwolves at all? Thibs need to focus on coaching.
That's what I would prefer, but clearly Leon negotiated the deal he got in mini to run both jobs because thib wanted that.
IT's aslo note worthy that GM's, coaches and Presidents don't go into their last yr of a contract with a Lame duck Status

yes I'm blaming perry for not getting us a real POINT GUARD and sticking with his boy

“I have a feeling”. When you start a thread like that your saying “I have no idea, but”.......
You really don’t read much about other teams, powers sports execs have, or don’t, what the owner involves in, or not, and what Leon is about. Your essentially saying knicks changed everyone but Perry, but Perry still runs things? Seriously?

Who is “his boy?” Is that Frank, DSjr or Elf?

well let me refresh your memory
Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski reported news linking Thibodeau to the job on Monday, but his sources suggested team control was a sticking point in the negotiations between the two parties. The veteran coach wanted final say over personnel decisions like hiring a general manager, drafting and free agent signings.

Your either pretty naive about certain things or just feel the need to challenge everything I say regardless of facts.
Read some of the comments Thibs said today
“When you look at what’s going on in the league, things can change very quickly. You work every day with your player development, try to improve through the draft, you have free agency and you have trades. I think you have to be very aggressive in each area. Sitting back and waiting sometimes is not a good thing.
Thibodeau was also reportedly encouraging the front office to make win-now moves prior to the 2020 draft.
Leon and Rose are BFFS,and they work within the CAA circles, what part of that doesn't register with you..
You have to learn to read between the lines.
Why wouldn't Rose make him the GM?
I think it's going to Happen, I think they left perry there because he was cool with WWW and Leon and he only has a yr left on his deal.
THe 20/21 FA class is DRYING up every month with top tiers resigning..

The part where Leon and Rose are the same person?
Tell you what... put in URL links to your quotes so we can tell the timeframes on when each is being said. Your first quote was Thibbs saying something when he was with the Wolves and has zero relevance here.

It seems like you acknowledge that Rose and Wes are the key decision makers. So why the need to focus on whether Perry or Thibs is the GM? Think Thibs trusts Rose and Wes to make the right decisions and I believe he mentioned he just wants input. You may be right about Perry but do not think he is the primary decision maker. In fairness to him, he did not exactly have a lot to work with. He also has done a decent job acquiring picks and thought last years team, despite the record, had some of signings. One being Morris who was eventually flipped for an asset.
Here is his first media day. At the third minute he was asked regarding input with decisions.
w/o a pg, any team will continue to be trash and it will hurt the development of many of the other players. it's almost like management enjoys sabotaging itself.

Thibs is not GMing....Rose brought in shot callers in WWW...PLUS ...they essentially chose Thibs staff...they have a whole infrastructure with the cap guy from CLE..analytics teams...etc...Rose is not entrusting his fate in Thibs hands....we are not talking Riley here...

Agreed...we need one badly.....obi in particular is going to suffer

Give Rivers a chance not Mudiay. He is under contract.
But in all while the knicks are not making very brilliant acquisitions they are not making massive ignorant mistakes either. Its been a long time since a knick has been on the list “top 10 bad contracts” or somthing similar.
NObody here has to tell me what’s wrong because the play on the court will speak volumes and its the only thing that matters.
Some of you are very smart dudes but very impressionable after a game or two to indelibly determine who should be in and who is out. Issue is it seems like “The same old song” but which new personnel”. We clambered for new coaching and FO, and yet after a few preseason games and limited camp we freaking out already.
This team is not very good. Some pieces can and will be. Teams are the aggregate of the sums. We know this as do the new coaches. They are dealing with what’s in front of them and doing what they can.
While Mudiay has improved his conditioning and played well here at the end of his contract, he subsequently went to Utah and did very well as a back up for Snyder. he was on a one year small contract and was not bought back. Might be his asking price was higher than Utah wanted to pay? We don’t know if that or he was not asked to come back. We simply don’t know.
I don’t think he moves the dial more than what we have. Rivers will be given opportunities but first he has to get into shape.

We do know that Mudiay can be had for a nickle by any team right now and none have signed him.
He is only 24 going on 25 in a couple months.
Man, these dudes with all world bodies and athleticism and 2-cent heads, they don't know how blessed they are and still waste the opportunity

This guy walking into SMU to be coached for the Pro’s by Larry Brown and then it all turned to shyt. Immigrant family with need for money is susceptible to bad advice. He did not qualify for college. Not the end of the world, played on year in china at pro level and was ok before he had bad ankle injury and was drafted 7th. Even for a young player the window is narrow to improve. Kids are drafted too young and not ready. Mudiay was physically ready but not mentally? I don’t know what happened. Very Dennis smith JR like type career thus far.
Frank at least defends at elite level but he physically yet to demonstrate what he can do. Maybe next 10 or so games we can gauge if he is stronger.
can’t talk about Mudiay without smith and if you talking about smith, you have to talk about Frank!! LOL
