I'm expecting typical Payton. Everytime you want to like him he'll post another performance like last night.

At least he was aggressive. I'm expecting mediocrity, but the last two games were just horrific. Seriously, I was wondering if he had major issues at home that needed to be sorted.

“They’re a playoff team,’’ Payton said. “It was good to have a complete game. We feel we can play with anybody if we played together. We’re not surprised by this.’’

Lets talk

I credit the coaching staff, the media and the hate from knick fans.....Pressure either bust pipes or creates diamonds. And Payton was a diamond today. Lets see if he can sustain it.

As Chekhov once said: even a wooden stick can fire like a rifle once a year. Let us see if Payton can sustain such level of play.

However, he has not matured as hoped and while, off the bench, he has some utility - starting him is a waste of time.

Eating crow tonight. Nice comeback. Kudos. I thought he was cooked.

Hey I’m glad Payton proved me wrong even if it’s just one game

Look if Payton continues to prove me wrong I’ll be thrilled

No way he continues to shoot like this but if he is even close to it I’ll take it

I thought it was " an unloaded rifle"

The quote you are thinking about goes like this: A wooden stick can fire like an unloaded rifle more than once a year. But it was a different writer who said it, it was Tolstoyevsky.

Elf came off the shelf!

This is who he has been his whole career. Y’all hate him when we lose, and then suspect him like this is some “Breakthrough”. Its not. He is a defense assist guy who had a great shooting night and at 4mm per season you don’t get this every night.
He is a solid back up who can penetrate.

This.

I still want quickly to start when he returns although after Elf has one fluke night that’s all this dysfunctional org needs to start him rest of the season

Elf is literally here to have his job taken. He gets into the paint, plays some defense, plays hard and takes care of the ball. He's the guy the coach tells the young guys he relies on those things, go do better.

He's not as good as he was last night, and not as bad as the first two games.

Like I said, Payton is our best PG. Until someone proves that he is better. And one quarter in a pre season make is not enough proof for ANY PRO NBA coach.

Look, I'm glad Payton had a good game, but he is who he is. I already know what prime EP does and that's produce at a level not good enough to be a starting level guard at the NBA level. I'd rather explore what we have in Quickley.

Nalod @ 12/28/2020 1:07 PM
Our Louisiana guys......Elf, Randle and Mitch. “Bayou Brothers”..........Nola got French roots, so Frank can hang with them? LOL
Knixkik @ 12/28/2020 2:00 PM
At best Payton can be a solid backup, but we obviously know even if this was the norm, it doesn't work on this team because his lack of outside shot will not allow our young guys to develop properly. Payton made his open threes last night, but he has one of the flattest shots in the league and his line drive has to be nearly perfect to go in. There is no margin for error on his release which is why he's below 30% for his career from three.
