Brogdon is a great comp actually. Thick kid, good shot, not spectacular but effective in many ways.
You're right. He's smaller than Brodgon but skill wise it's a good comp.
i wouldn't overextend the comp. they have both been routinely underrated. and both have old school aspects to their game -- which remain effective. But squiggy is still on the skinny side, has more wiggle to his game and is far more willing to drive for a tear drop or alley oop
on a side note: if malcom didn't play out of his mind the other night we could have had a blood bath against the pacers
A few comps:
* I think Brogdon as his upside is an attainable target, as would Van Vleet. One thing that's still unknown is the wiggle in Quickley's game. Maybe I'm getting too excited, but I could also see him having success like Jamal Murray (Murray (23) and Brogdon (28) - AND Van Vleet (26), interestingly, were from the same 2016 draft).
* Another way to look at it would be that he's somewhere between Seth Curry and Steph Curry. Pure shooting, check. He might have better tools as a defender than either of them. He seems to have more quickness/wiggle/creativity to his game than Seth.
(In spite of having the right pedigree, it's fascinating how Seth has had to scrape his way to the NBA - he's currently starting for the Sixers this season, averaging 16ppg/4apg. It has to be said that Quickley's upside is highly dependent on his coach, system, and teammates)

Like Mark Jackson when he was playing for Pitino & the Bomb Squad - those guys looked like they were having a blast. Perhaps the sample size is too small, but the Knicks have played with some pep to their step when Quickley has gotten substantial minutes. Too much respect for his 3/not enough respect for his quickness puts the defense off balance. A guy that can shoot and isn't a steal waiting to happen is a serious weapon.

Funny thing is, I think the guys already do trust him. I was irritated at how Randle created two 3s for him and he turned the both down to give the ball back to him. All is well because he looks fantastic right now

I would have used Frank at SF to take on Hunter, who hurt the Knicks tonight.
Quickley did do something tonight that Frank has done many times...he passed up a number of open 3s. With his shot, if he has an open 3, he should take it.
Seem to recall that EQ also has a 6'8" wingspan, which helps him compensate for his lack of size. He hasn't been overpowered much, from what I can see.
Very happy we didn't take some of the other shooters available at EQ's draft slot. Somebody with the Knicks knew he could play PG, and wasn't just an undersized sniper SG.

Yeah...just commented about him not taking those shots. I expect they are going to talk to him about this. Typical deferential rookie, in this case.
Fun game by quickley. The game completely changed when he was in. And he passed up open shots too, so when he gets more aggressive looking for those shots he will really be something. We don’t win tonight without him.

Rondo couldnt shoot out of college. At all. Rondo was more of floor general but the physical profile is similar. Not explosive but long and quick.
he played real well tonight with RIvers where both guards can legitimately handle the ball. that should free up some shots in the future for him -- but frankly it's not about his shots
when he's on the court, RJ and Julius have so much better spacing. And guys like KK expect a pass at the right time and the pg trusts him -- no reluctant passes. i just have to imagine he's talking to KK and reminding him to play hard and stay locked in and when he gets that pass it's for him to shoot it

He reminds me of Chauncey Billups in both demeanor and game. Billups was 6’3 with a 6’9 wingspan too.

This is what a lottery pick would look like. He plays like he knows he can compete with NBA guys from day one. No need for fans to make excuses about their play after three years in the league. Kid is high energy, aggressive, can shoot, plays defense and most of all has the high IQ of a PRO basketball player. We have not seen this total package from our guards in a long time. FO deserves a lot of credit for this late 1st pick. Many had him as a mid second.
Quickley could be the missing piece to the offense that gives RJ and Randle space to do their thing. I cannot wait to see what Quickley can do over the next 10 games if given a consistent 20-25 minutes.

And i'll never understand how he was only viewed as a second round pick. He was SEC player of the year and only a soph, not like he was a senior. In a league that values shooting, he's a 40+ 3pt shooter and 90+ ft shooter. And he has a 6'9 wingspan or whatever and showed solid defensive play at the college level. What am i missing? I know he's not a classic PG, but that doesn't matter anymore. Why did draft "experts" miss so badly on a player like this and calling him a mid second round pick? Between his skillset and college success, that's a lottery pick package.
