I don't expect things to get peachy keen, but a cessation of the nonstop falsehoods and negativity and at the least the projection of rationale and healing should be a relief.

Today was a big sigh of relief. I can't tell you how glad we managed to get past the last 2 weeks post Capitol riot without any notable shenanigans. Today was beautiful - it's a bit like we're back at normalcy. A president who speaks with humility and hope. Crazy. A White House press briefing. Holy cow. There's the good 'ole term "politically correct". Politicians behaving admirably and setting an example in their public conduct.

There's probably going to be a specific generation of children and young adults who bought into the divisiveness of Trump/QAnon that are going to be affected for a long time and I feel sad and a little threatened by that.

Interestingly, I was going to a podiatrist back in 2017 and in our banter he was talking about how the media controls the narrative, and Trump was coming in to drain the swamp and clean things up; that he used social media to get his unfiltered message out there - he specifically avoided the official WH channels to get his message out to his supporters. He suggested a conspiracy in American politics (which, there may indeed be, but not quite the way the QAnon folks have described it)... (In retrospect, he was probably an early QAnon adopter!)

I keep thinking about how it started and how it ended. I really disliked Hillary but her "deplorables" comment has aged pretty well
