SF- We need a pure shooter...
It's probably SF when it's all said and done, but it's really all about who is playing next to him. He's an interchangeable wing, as long as the other wing is a shooter.
He is a SG. It sucks mikal bridges would have been the perfect fit with RJ.

I agree about Bridges. He was a guy I really wanted.
I dont know if this is the same question but this is how I look at it:
If you could choose between a SG like Bradley Beal or a 6'8" version of Bradley Beal who is a SF, which would you choose and where would you play RJ?
For me, RJ at SG so he can do bully ball with a 6'8" Beal

I've been going back and forth on this. But I believe he's both a SG/SF. As he get stronger, he will get better at finishing. Right now he looks weak against the top SFs....and he has slow feet to guard quick SGs. So I think he's both. Just not great at either position. But he can be at both.
You see it’s getting to a stage where it dosent matter. RJ has developed the strength where he seems confident taking anyone off the dribble regardless of size/speed.
SG... no question. Even if his shot never blossoms his handle and scoring in general will and SG is the spot he will create a nightly matchup in our favor. We have already seen this in recent games vs. Cle/Chi/GS/Sac among others. Also he gives you double digit rebounding games at SG which is fantastic.
I thought he had a lot of moments where he looked GREAT on both sides of the ball vs. Jimmy Butler and that dude is an absolute monster. RJ is looking good.. like the other kids gotta give him time but I like what Thibs is cooking up.
Guy has played 81 games and improves in every facet of his game incrementally.

Thats great experience being guarded by a top defensive SF.
SF for sure especially since he’s going to get even stronger
SG need to shoot the ball by definition.
For now RJ is not SG.
He must improve his shot or play SF with all challenges which come with it.
He can became the versatile wing to play both position... but then he will be a superstar...

Yep RJ at SF we give up size and length. RJ at the 2 is as much about defense as offense

This is why I voted SF - because he takes everyone off the dribble. Like how many times does he get to the hoop for a lay up? It's like every time.
He will likely always be faster than the opposing SF - but not always the SG.
But I agree it doesn't matter - he is just a really good interchangeable wing.
He almost tied the game against Miami on that last drive and lay up. I hope the next time he has that chance, he hits it.
RJ is a SF, but unfortunately, he is a tad bit undersized for SF. Ideally, we should find a 6’8”-6’9” guy who can defend and hit 3s at a high percentage and put him next to RJ. That is the type of player we should focus on in this upcoming draft.
