Knicks · The Natural (page 1)

The road has been bumpy for D-Rose. Injuries that have ended careers have created multiple detours for a former number one pick. He is back for a second tour of the city where if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere.

Tom Thibodeau believed in Rose enough to lobby for his acquisition a few weeks ago. Thibodeau knows Rose and sees the former 2011 MVP (age 22) in the 32 year old veteran.

There are bright moments when artists can recapture the magic. In his first start for the Knicks, lead guard Derrick Rose set a fast tempo and made all of his three pointers. He finished with 18 points, 6 assists, 3 rebounds and shot 63 percent from the field. Like a jazz soloist reaching back for his best, Rose hit every note.

Appreciate you reading. The words write themselves. The great news is that Knicks basketball is watchable again.

A reasonable facsimile of Bill Bradley would be perfect.

Knicks are watchable even when unwatchable. What else you gonna watch? The ruptured freak show in Brooklyn? The Sixers? Can't even listen to the that, let alone watch it.

A Bradley replica would have to come off the bench, and maybe be SMOTY. But they don't make Rhodes scholar gym rats who follow their shot anymore.

D. Rose is playing excellent basketball for NYK.
I hope that he can stay healthy.

The final piece to the Knicks puzzle in the early 70's
was Dave Debusschere.
I believe that the key piece needed now is Mo Bamba.
What do you think Misterearl?

I'm hoping Rose can do his thing while leading the transition to Quickley becoming the lead guard for this team eventually. He seems like the right mentor.

Maybe some of you totally stop paying attn to him once he was gone, but he was playing at even a higher level under thibs in Minny.

He carried them for a month (when they won 47 games) and butler went out, so I'm not surprised at all by his production.

I still prefer him off the bench at 25 minutes per because of his injury history

I think coming off the bench, is more injury risk, than starting because off the bench, your goal is to impact instantly. And I feel at this time in his career, having that constant pressure to provide a jolt of energy is something Rose adds off the bench, similar to IQ. So, I agree about coming off the bench, but for a totally different reason. I like when Rose plays with a chip on his shoulder, which means he will always bring that same energy, especially if the chip is still there. When the chip is removed, your energy is reduced slightly. And moving Rose to the starters unit, is a risk, since we do not have that type of energy off the bench (unless we can say IQ now has the green light, since he's the main offensive threat coming into the game with Frank. Seems like so far, Rose starting is working for us. Lets hope this continues and we don't see a drop in Rose performance over time.
