Knicks · Knox, where has this guy been? (page 1)

He only gets to matchup against Miles Bridges a few times a season.
Caseloads @ 3/23/2021 12:24 PM
yup. was just thinking this is a huge disappointment. for a team that needs to score points, he should be playing over obi. why is he not playing at the 3

Agreed...Doubt it happens though. Next time Knox see's any significant minutes, it will probably be in another uniform.

PassTheBall @ 3/23/2021 12:42 PM
Knicks are in win now mode (for better or for worse). Knox should definitely be playing over Obi but not over Bullock or Burks. I really though he would have taken the starting spot from Bullock by now considering he can shoot the 3 but his defense must still be a problem for the coach to keep him on the bench.

He’s still young so I think they unleash him next year instead. This is technically the best coach he has ever had so improvement is imperative for next year. If he doesn’t take that step and continues to get DNPs into next season, it’s over.

TPercy @ 3/23/2021 1:05 PM
Been saying this man there’s a serviceable player in there somewhere.
NYKBocker @ 3/23/2021 1:13 PM
The problem with Knox is that he is a space cadet. Dudes bball IQ is low and he loses concentration and loses him man a lot on D. He has the physical abilities. The bulb needs to turn on.

this is the only explanation. He's so athlete. Feels like if he played has hard as Bullock he would be a star

disappointed that he didn't get more than a few minutes of run tonight.

He must be shitting the bed in practice. Obi looks worse and worse every game. Airballed 3, and Russ was having relations with him in that post possession. That pass to Mitch was impressive but in order for your passing ability to be useful you gotta convince the D you can score.

Obi stinks. We drafted a guy in the lottery that just runs the weave at the top of the key.

Knox needs some shots out there, impossible to get any sort of rhythm. No reason not to give him 10 minutes a night to see if he can stretch the floor.

Thibs playing Randle to many minutes, give Knox a couple minutes at the 4 with Mitch and RJ.

Because Obi is a 4. Burks and Bullock are much better defensively than Knox

Chandler @ 3/25/2021 8:01 AM
I am optimistic about him still. Would like to see how things unfold if he gets some minutes. Also like Obi but he is struggling now trying to figure out his role, niche

Knicks coach Tom Thibodeau is dropping hints he’s finally close to removing rookie lottery pick Obi Toppin from the rotation — likely in favor of Kevin Knox.

Tuesday’s blowout win over Washington could have been the final straw for the Dayton dunker, who is regressing instead of progressing.

“We’ll see how it goes,” Thibodeau said after the Knicks blew out the Wizards, 131-113. “It’s not unusual for rookies to go through things like this. We just want him to continue to work. He’s been real good in practice. He’s actually played very well in practice. He just has to continue to work. He’ll learn, he’ll grow. He’ll get better.”

IMO They are both Suspect, you can close your eyes and pick either one

Knox is a floor spacer, since he prefers to shoot 3s. Obi is a ball mover who shoots airbags and lack confidence right now. 2 different players. Each have their own separate devlopment issues.

Yeah, that's my point, I see them as projects.

Knox needed to stay in school, it's not like he needed the money and his family was broke.

OBI looks like he is thinking (deer in headlights) instead of reacting.

And the first time Knox goes blank and his man goes backdoor for a dunk, he'll be back on the bench waiting for the trade to happen. Knox is not this FO's guy. Obi is.

It really seems (just my opinion) like Thibs has patience if you have the constant motor and don't drift mentally. I really want Obi to work out, though. Not often we've seen a guy cry joyful tears on draft night for us.

Yes, spot on

Or perhaps he is what he has always been. A soft streaky shooter that does not offer much else.
