- All 4 of our picks this year
- future second round pick
- Toppin or Knox
For
Suggs (?)
By not spending 20m on ball and 7m on 2021 draft picks we would save 27m
With this money we can extend Randle and sign Robinson long term.
We would still have our picks in 2022 and 2023 to fill out the bench with new young talent
We would still have over 30m left for a big free agent in 2023 while spending the 30m next year to bring back returning players and possibly upgrade the roster for 1 year contracts.
Is this logical?

No. Two midround and two seconds won't get it done. You need throw in IQ or Mitch at the very least to move into the top 5.

Yea I was expecting for one of the picks to fall into the top 7..
But yea I was focused more on the money than common sense for a second lol

Yup. Really gotta make it worthwhile.

Logical yes but that won't be enough to get Suggs. Both our firsts will be outside the lottery. Look at the Eddie Griffin trade in 2001. They traded 13, 18, andd 21 to move to 7. For the Knicks to get into the top 3 in this draft it would cost all of 2021, all of 2023, Toppin. Not sure thats enough. All of the 2021 picks may get us to 8-12

Yea thanks. I knew this. When I posted this I was just overcome with excitement to save 27m that I didn’t think if this made sense lol
Great post
Yep, I doubt any package of picks without an established star will get us Suggs. Teams will want no less than Barrett and then some to give us a high pick in this generational draft. It took a first round pick for the Mavs to move from 5 to 3 in the Luka draft, and even then it was hailed as a highway robbery of Atlanta.
We just need to accept that we have chosen a bad year to be good mediocre, so Cade, Suggs and Mobley will all play against us for other teams.
You would have to include Barrett to move into the top 3 for Suggs.
Also have to have a motivated seller. Its not a very common activity. Sure fire generational talents are coveted. Trade down one or two spots like Celtics did can be brilliant. Years ago traded no 1. Which was Joe Barry Carrol to GSW and in return got RObert Parrish and the 4, which was Kevin McHale. Obviously was brilliant!!!

True, although GSW if that Minny picks falls out of top 4 might be one of them. If we take on Wiggins contract, give em both our picks as well as a first in 2023 + Toppin there’s a slight chance they do it. I don’t think they can afford to be in luxury tax situation every year with little flexibility..
