But where our wonderful Briggs blurted about “Thibs lost the game”, and then we we win 5 in a row, Thibs is simply coaching his ass off. HE mostly presses the right buttons. Last 5 games Elf’s minutes are down and he his playing very well. Rose is back on stride is why.
Other than Reek, who does not love that frank comes in, makes a big boy Three and take it right to hoop? Randle was on the bench and the team EXTENDED THE LEAD FROM 4 TO 12.......

Agreed. I really think we should keep running staggered rotations where RJ gets to run 2nd unit. The ball just moves a lot better and most teams bench can't handle him. Nets did this a lot with Kyrie/Harden up until 4th Q so it could work for us.

Its good to prune a forest so other trees can grow. Its why I’m not so set on both Bullock and Burks returning as I’d like to see internal growth. Lets just say that both of them have hit their peak and its lovely really, but eyes on a bigger piece. I can’t tell you who that is as much I could have told you that Reggie and Burks would have stepped up as they have. OR that Randle would be at this level, and RJ at age 20 is this steady and expanding his repertoire at the same time.
I don’t imagine us bringing 4 rookies next year and thinking we can develop them with roles for Knox, Frank and Obi as well. The future is wide open............

There is a place for Frank, Knox and Obi. More situational substitutions will rest our first unit, and build up these players for defense, rebounding and offense, when we use them.

Yeah, noone can shut down leagues top scorers, but if they are made just somewhat uncomfortable and hit just 5% less shots that could make a huge difference in the outcome of the game. Sometimes a single stop and a fastbreak can swing momentum

Point-by-point:
1) The discussion was revolving about "situational" substitutions. I.e., bringing Frank into the game for a specific purpose of defending a hot opposing guard. It was not about his offensive contribution, that one is a well-known issue.
2) In games this season where Frank played over 5 minutes, the Knicks are actually 10-5. That's a 67% winning percentage. The Knicks' overall record is 30-26, or 53% winning percentage. Now, maybe there are other factors in play if you drill down, but at least on first look the Knicks win more when Frank plays meaningful minutes
3) In one of the 5 losses, Frank started the game, played 24 minutes and shot 5-7, scoring 13 points, so it wasn't one of those 0-4, 0-3, 0-5, 0-4 affairs
4) I did not advocate trading Randle for KP, it was Randle plus the two Mavs first rounders for KP. It is Porzingod we are talking about, you oughta show some respect, young man!

From the looks of it, Dallas has not fared all that well with KP. Feels like there might be a conflict brewing between him and Luka. When Luka hit the impossible game winner vs Memphis, KP was the only Mav who did not congratulate him or express any emotion of joy. Not as easy being in the shadow of a great as he thought.

Now, should he have talent that shot? Yeah. But a guy who instinctively will pass first did so to a 40% all star and with the slimiest of margins did not hesitate to do so, and because of that the shot was good!!!!!
Injuries and RJ and Bullock fouled out but good to see Thibs go with IQ and Frank. Funny, announcer had Payton coming in at first. To be fair they are calling the game remotely. Doris did go a little “bill Walton” on frank for his foul but outside of that I like the outcome.
Now if Frank had talent the shot and hit it all hell would have broken loose in the house of Reek1248.

Frank's defense and Quickley's offense should've been running our 2nd-unit lineup a long time ago, December .. the two young-guards would've created a dynamic chemistry together by now.

Nice thought, but we cant have a backcourt for long, where only one player can be counted on to produce offensively. We've tried that with Prigs, Calderon, Baker. Doesnt move the needle enough.
Frank has the proper role right now, situational PT. Considering his consistent lack of production on offense. Frank should be grateful to Thibs that he's still finding minutes for him. Especially since he's got two way players ahead of him. Frank shows he can average double digits on offense. Without heavy minutes. Quite sure the PT will be there for him. Believe thats all Frank ever had to do, since getting drafted.
