I say yes tentatively. I think this ultimately depends on the amount of off season work and development. I do expect to see IQ at point next season but this also depends on moves made. Draft, FA acquisitions. Long term I see him as more a versatile combo guard,as opposed to a playmaking pg ala CP3.
I do like this kid though and am rooting for him to have a successful tenure as a Knick.

Agreed.
I think he will not start but will play a solid 25+ minutes per.
Knicks still need more of an orchestrater for the offense. Feel like Brunson would be money well worth spent.
He's really limited as a PG and more effective as a bench scorer and that is not going to change in a summer.
That being said if we are running the ball through RJ/Randle you can hide him at PG. Its less than ideal. Much better signing a vet and using IQ as a bench scorer where we see his scoring moving the needle
Knicks use Randle and Barrett to facilitate the offense. Doe it have to be a short guy?
The fixation on PG should be based on who you can get. Guys like Morant and Fox are super quick but its not like their teams are that much better because of it. Good/Great basketball players come in all shapes and sizes. Zion is the PG in NOLA for now. Brunson is a good player.
IQ is doing great. Not sure I’d label him a PG given his playmaking is not great. He does what he does well and no doubt has a role. Might even be a starter. But If its him and RJ on the court I’m letting RJ facilitate/probe/Penetrate.

I think the key is facilitate. Neither of the guys orchestrate yet - and for me there is an obvious gap between the 2. Randle and RJ are stop gap and kudos to Randle for really being able to handle it but I think the offense will really hum when a real PG stops in

Agreed.
As long as Randle is here and we continue to succeed playing through him, i don't see IQ starting next season.

Great point. Big difference between those who are able to facilitate an offence ( RJ & Randle ) and those that can orchestrate ( Eg CP3 ). Can you imagine CP3 running the offence with our current roster? In theory the additional wins?
The modern NBA dictates that the pg’s of yesteryear are no longer needed. Would players such as Stockton, Thomas, Kevin Johnson, Tim Hardaway been anywhere near as successful if they played in the current era? Debatable.
Devil’s advocate. I see our greatest need as an orchestrator, names thrown around being, Conley, Nunn, Schroeder, Brunson. Best playmaking FA pg is Lonzo. Only knock on the kid being his mediocre J at best. Modern day pg necessity. I say roll the dice Thibs. You know I love ya.
IQ still has a lot to work on before he can be a credible PG. His PnR game is still raw--decision making isn't great and he can't finish at the rim and his mid range game isn't there. His overall handle needs work as well but time will tell if he gets there. At the very least he's a valuable piece to us.
My point is not to think we need to sign Schroeder or Ball. Jordan was a great playmaker. Kobe. The others play off them.
CP3 is a great basketball player. Randle is a very very good basketball. RJ is going to be one also. The don’t play the same position, but the orchestrate. Jordan was a a SG? SF? PG? What does it matter!
We need to bring in players better than Payton? I get that. Naturally there is a cost to do so unless you get a FA.
I like IQ as spot up shooter first and foremost. When Randle or RJ get doubled we need players that can shoot.
Morant and Fox push the ball and do some great things. If you can draft a roadrunner like that you do it.
Before we hate on Payton, do we not appreciate what Thibs see’s in him? Good defender? Effective penetrater?
YEs I want a better player, but there is more to it then “What about.....This”, “what about that.......”.
If Ball is expendable in Nola, why would be be a must have here? I believe RJ has better upside than Ingram. Zion is better than randle but in a different way. But Ball?
I've said a few times, I'm happy developing him into the same role his favorite player, Lou Williams had, great scoring guard off the bench who'll win you a lot of regular season games (though hopefully he'll be better in the playoffs!)
If the Knicks continue to run their team heavily through Randle and RJ, the need for a polished floor general diminishes a bit and the more you can get away with playing Quickley at PG (or heck, any other position) because the PG effectively becomes another off the ball player in our scenario.
You could also say that Rose perhaps should start alongside Randle/RJ and Quickley can backup either/both guard spots. It honestly doesn't really matter so long as Quickley gets mins, is put in a position to succeed and help the team.
If we see him eventually playing more PG, he needs reps at the position over time in real game situations. It may not be next year, it may not even be the following year. But something to consider with young players is that the Knicks should be helping to drive their development to be the best player they can be and not just pigeon-hole him into a specific role for the future.
The Knicks need to go after signing FA D.Angelo Russell in the offseason to replace Payton.
Rookie Quickley's performance has become s dynamic-winner as a scoring-guard and 6th-Man off the bench.
The same scoring-guard position as D.Rose, Burks, and RJ Barrett.
Coach Thibs has not put Quickley high-scoring, and Frank's defense in a lineup once this season. WHY?
Yet, Thibs has been running a 3-guard offense the last 4 months.

For the second time, I don't know if it was you who wanted Russell a few days ago, but he's only FA in 2023.
IQ is at that border between being able to play PG full time versus being a Lou Williams, Bobby Jackson-type scorer off the bench. While I hope this is not true, I think Quickley’s mindset as a scorer and his game will lead him to being more like a Jamal Crawford/Lou Williams. The kid is a natural bucket getter. He has to learn about being a full time PG, but I am a firm believer in “TIT” Trust In Thibbs. If IQ can be a PG, Thibbs will get that out of him. I just don’t see that happening by next year. It also will depend on who we can get in FA and the price. I would roll the dice on the draft rather than overpay for marginal talent. Unless we can get someone who is clearly better than Payton, we might as well save the cap space. Ultimately, i think there is a good chance Rose is the starter next year with IQ backing him up and playing 30 minutes a game.
We also don’t want a Deng situation where RJ and Randle break down.
Rose is good in spurts and has been very good for the team, but he’s 20 minutes a night. I wouldn’t mind Lowry on a two year deal or a large one year deal at $35MM as a stop gap. Toughness, defense and leadership.
I’ll sign Ball and eventually start he and Quickley in the backcourt. With those 2 it wouldn’t matter who is PG and who is SG. They would compliment each other well on both ends.
Depends. If you are using Randle and RJ to initiate and your PG is supposed to fill a Steve Kerr/BJ Armstrong/Ron Harper type of role, he absolutely can. If you need a facilitator to actually run an offer season with 4 other guys, he has work to do.

So much going on in this post to agree with and yet I can only focus on the TiT effect.
Trust in Thibs
I dunno. I like Quickley better as an energy guy off the bench
Quickly is not a PG, so I would say no.
I like him and Rose off the bench.
