Some great performances tonight.

OK

Best bet is Miami loses to Milwaukee and we win the last 2. Good news is we are at home. The Charlotte game could be tough. Boston is fading.
technomaster @ 5/13/2021 10:45 PM
Well the least optimal scenario is Hawks lose, Knicks and Miami win both. That puts the Heat in 4th, Knicks in 5th, Hawks in 5th.

I honestly don’t think it matters who we face. I think the least dangerous opponent is the Hawks. A few ways to that outcome:

1) Knicks win both (4), Hawks win (5), Heat lose at least 1 (6)

2) Hawks win (4), Knicks win only 1 (5), Heat lose both (6)

3) Knicks win 1 or more (4), Hawks lose (5), Heat lose both (6)

This Thib and Payton thing is weird. Thibs knows how bad Payton is. We know this because once he sits down in the second half he never comes back in. If he knows this why does he start him. We might be able to hide Payton better off the bench if Thibs still wants to give him playing time.

Thibs is too smart for that.

Winning more frequently than not. Payton starts so DRose can finish.

no its good coaching treating your players like men and people. Elf plays incredibly hard and does everything Thibs asks that he can do. Elf has not been good lately and in general is a below average NBA player. What Thibs doesnt do its yank guys around. It takes time and trends. When you stink your minutes dwindle, when you play better the increase but the guys who have earned his trust continue to get their chances.

I dont know what the rest of team's relationship with Elf is like but this is Thibs. He's not a tinkerer. He's a "go do it the right way" type of guy. He makes those changes slowly and it seems most of the guys playing for him understand and appreciate this.

It will frustrate fans but we dont manage men or a locker-room. Its basketball for the Knicks but its also more... its life, careers, jobs, humans... Not saying Thibs will always get it right, but I appreciate his process, even if it means seeing Elf

He got buy in from the team because the roles got defined for this season. Frank had his chance and likely understood why he moved back. Its not about Phil drafting him or all that comes before. What do we see, Thibs loves his defense and now he spot players for reason. Does this mean he still stops practicing hard? Or that he won't get a recommendation if we let him go? Im thinking is we are cultivating careers and a culture. Pouting won't work here.
Everyone got a fair chance to play and contribute. Does this mean Knox and Frank's agent want them on another team next year? could be. Does it mean we bring him back for 2mm a year and a check list of things he needs to do? Perhaps. We might also tell him we done and wish him all the best going forward. I have no idea. Maybe he is destined to Gleague and his coach there will give him the reps to work on an Iso game. He can play d. He can spot up shoot. Maybe he needs to bulk up and be a wing going forward. 22years old, 7feet from the tips of his fingers. Sorry, good defensive players are not lax dudes. It takes aggression to play defense. Offensively he is not strong enough to be a big part of the rotation. I'll root for him until the day he is not a knick. Im not saying he should be playering ahead of others.

I will expand on that.

Thibs to team:

Put in the work.
Do it the right way.
I will give you a chance with a set amount of leeway.
Earn your minutes with execution; you will know what to do and what I won't tolerate cause I will tell you all of that.
Show the team you deserve more minutes with consistency at a particular level.
I will give you that rotation spot when all of the above is complete.

I know they've accomplishes so much over the years, but, man, are the Spurs so boring to watch!

They have an interesting mix of wing players and just too many of them right now: White, Murray, Walker, Vassell decent pipeline.
