Saves us 26m in salary we would have given to a high profile pg and draft picks.

Use that money to extend some guy who perform well in the playoffs

Briggs, you know that I have a lot of love in my heart for you and no one here loves this team and wants it to win more than you do, but a practical cap sheet will only have about 2 middle class contracts, you've listed five of them. Because of RJ Barrett still on his rookie deal and MRob still on a value contract and Randle trapped in that team option, the Knicks actually have some options with their raw cap space, but it's usually better to rent out the space in a trade in this situation.

Noel and Burks have incentive to be signed to two year deals because that still makes them tradeable. One year deals wouldn't do that and give them veto rights.

If the Knicks renounce Frank N, he's gone. His agent will push him to a new team for a fresh start, but also to reset his Bird Rights clock on a team where that might mean something at some point.

Rose decided to just not show up for a game in the past during his first Knicks stint. Some here will cite some excuse or another. Reality is he did it and thus does not deserve more than a one year "Prove It" deal. And that's forever. If he wants to be Knick, he should sign one year Prove It deals forever. That's the price of not showing up. You do shit like that and it means you cannot be trusted ever again.

Gibson will come back on the Veteran's Minimum Exception. It's just more flexible. If Gibson gets hurt, the Knicks can give him an injury settlement and replace him on the roster quickly. More than the vet's minimum and the Knicks then actually have to make cap sheet moves to get him off the roster if they need someone else. Gibson is a situation where he will take the minimum and if there's more to be earned, it will be cash under the table.

Bullock is interesting as he's the candidate on that list most likely to get a MCC. I wouldn't give him more than a 1 plus 1, i.e. the 2nd year as a team option.

Its one thing to add a Leonard or Harden or center of gravity star of that quality and impact. But I'd question whether one of Lonzo Ball Or Dennis Schroder (for example) would be more valuable than a Bullock-Burke or Rose-Bullock combo.

We can burn our cap space on them for a 2021-2022 playoff run with mostly the same cast, then leave things more open ended in 2022-2023.
So... we can give them big 1-year deals or big 2-year, team option on 2nd years like we did for Bobby Portis.

Then we deal with what to do with Mitch & Randle in 2022.

Absolutely. Knicks might have even already signed one.

But I believe there is a whole range of options to either PG 1 or PG 1a or 1b (with Rose) ranging from Conley and Lowry to Schroder and Ball to Payne and McConnell to trade options like Rozier.

I don't know if Bouknight is there at that range, but you might be able to shoot for Giddey with the package you're offering. I would've, but I thought you liked him more as a prospect.

But I’m not sure he fits this team

Although I’d be open to him anyway. Bouknight is an athletic defender who can score at 3 levels. I think he might fit here a tad better for this team
