Knicks · The No Frank Policy (page 1)

So what is it?
ramtour420 @ 5/26/2021 8:52 PM
It only until the last possession. Then it's Frank time!!!!!

he sucks. accept it and let it go.

Now...I would agree that maybe Thibs should try to find minutes for him, just in case, but this is the playoffs and these last two games have been tight. This may not be the time to start experimenting. Hopefully the Knicks will be able to build a nice lead in the next game where he can get some garbage time.

THis is what fans do. If something is not working we assume “well try this, can’t hurt”.
Frank has his defensive role. Its a small role. Doubt unless injury to Rose Thibs changes and plays him.
Perhaps rose starts and IQ/Burkes gets more time. Thats what he’s doing and it worked yesterday.
Was our slow start due to Payton? In part. Randle was being handled by ATL’s defense very well.

Slow start appears to be the lack of offensive players and play makers surrounding Randle in the starting unit. Barkley said something very smart on tnt. He said Randle would play better with the 2nd unit. That's because they have more scorers and playmaker in the 2nd unit. As soon as you swop payton for rose, who's a better shooter, scorer and playmaker....you saw Bullock receiving passes in his shooting pocket....Rose scoring and shooting opened up the defense. So now when they collapse on Randle, he has more passing lanes with Rose at the pt. Then off the bench, IQ provides the same for the 2nd unit. I think its time to put Rose in that starting lineup for this playoff run.

Can’t argue about Payton. Small sample frank would shoot better and get just as blocked in the paint. That or he attempts dunk. Imagine frank dunk in traffic in the first 5min the garden would lose its collective minds.
IM redundant here on giving ATL its due. with Hunter they are a deadly shooting group along Bogdono. Trae and Collins make 4 shooters on the court and then they bring in Gallo whose defense is impressive given he looks stiff!
IM also giving Knicks due to shutting him down the last 5 min of the game when it looked like a fresh Trae and Bogdon coming in with 8min to go would take over the game. ATL didn’t “Suck”, they failed to execute in the face of better defense.
No Frank Rule? ITs a long series and if Rose goes out due to a injury we have to see whose up next.

Payton is throwing up airballs and bricks on layups. He is totally out of it. Frank may end up getting minutes in upcoming game simply because someone has to play the minutes.

I don't see how we could be any worse giving Frank all of Payton's minutes. We are talking 4-8 minutes per game. And if Frank is playing well thats even better. We are just buying time for Rose to remain fresh. How could Frank be any worse than Payton at this point?

Frank would be much better than Payton, and while he did not look good on that last play in Game 1, if Frank were given 10 minutes a game and some time to readjust to Trae Young’s speed, I think he would be effective against him on defense. He has shut him down before but it is hard to come off the bench and guard someone when you have not played all game.

And then blame Frank for losing the game when he got exactly 9 seconds of playing time!

This.

It’s not a coincidence we made the game 2 comeback and won when ELF GOT 0 MINUTES IN THE SECOND HALF

So strange that good things happen when Elf isn’t playing at all

Nalod @ 5/28/2021 8:35 AM
Rose seems to find one more burst to get it done per game. It is not a given this continues.
He is our MVP at the moment.
Game 2 saw Bullock have his typical (2nd half this season type) game and Burkes continued to be clutch.

RJ is a young player in his first series. He looked like it Wednesday. Thats ok, he sat and is quick learner.
We won’t win this series if Burkes and Rose carry us. Randle and RJ need to play free and easy.

RJ is built for playoff type ball. Just not a gonna happen all at once.

Simple question - does anyone really think Frank could be worse than Payton at this point?

At this point most of the posters on this site would be an upgrade

And while Knicks started off ok, how’d that not starting Payton thing work out?
Let’s just say “neutral”. Rose started the game well and ran out of gas. Fact is ATL just looks good.

Philc1 @ 5/30/2021 1:56 PM
Yeah let’s play Rose 40 minutes per game
TPercy @ 5/30/2021 3:30 PM
Frank stinks. Sooner we accept that our PG rotation aside from Rose is abysmal the better.

Funny, but Thibs doesn't call Payton in to be any kind of defensive stopper at ANY point of ANY game.

Well that’s because Payton couldn’t guard a parking meter

And neither can Rose

I dont believe Rose was even known to be a defensive stopper. Rose best defense is and was his offense. Payton on the other hand, is a two way player, with a long reach. I just think Payton knows he has 1 foot out the door and mentally he's checked out. Rose is still better in a backup roll at this stage of his career....he can just focus on being himself in that 2nd unit, while being a mentor for IQ and Obi on the floor. We still need a starting PG and center.

On a different note, after watching money mitch post some clips on IG....its clear he left a bigger hole than we thought. And that's the Clint capella impact on offense. Easy put backs and alley oops and rebounds. Great hands compared to Noel. And a much taller presence in the paint than Taj Gipson. Stronger than Noel too. Noel is an under sized PF... So maybe mitch is that young center we need. Just need some backups becasue of his injury history. If u have an IG account, check him out. He'd pretty active on there.
