Knicks · Like Charles Bassey for the Knicks in this draft (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 5/27/2021 2:36 PM
Don’t see to much separation between him and Mobley who will be top 3.
I like that bassey has offensive upside— he’s a better offensive player than mitch today. It resets the salary clock at the center position. Unless giddey or boughknight fell— I think first pick if available should be bassey. The Knicks succcess might drive bassey up.

I think you are right that the Knicks should take a big man first with the #19, only Atlanta is behind them before the next pick and unless someone special falls I'd guess the Hawks would target a backup PG first, they got a ton of wings.

Kia Jones, Usman Garuba, Bassey, Greg Brown, Day'Ron Sharpe?

Lots to pick from going 15-35

A big would be nice, but they're like NFL RBs. You can always find one later in the draft. I think the Knicks have needs at every position besides PF. They just need to take the best player available.

A week ago, I mentioned ( in the NCAA Prospect thread) that we should target Bassey with one of our 1st round picks and let Noel walk.

As of today, Bassey and Tre Mann are my 2 targets with our 2 1st unless someone unsuspected drops to us...

mikesknicks @ 5/27/2021 3:50 PM
I love the Tre Mann target but I think with workouts he may not be available when the Knicks pick.

Its very possible that Mann's stock will rise as we approach the draft. Its a very deep draft so I am hoping he slips to us. Hes a 6'6 lead guard with good vision and range. If we draft him, there won't be a need to overspend for a FA pg this summer.

franco12 @ 5/27/2021 4:06 PM
we absolutely need a PG. Payton has proved how important the position is, and how badly positioned we are with folks that can run the team for us. We can't count on Rose - anything he gives us next year is gravy.

I'd use every pick on a PG or SG, unless there is some big talent that stands out.

The two foreign players sengun and giddey have absolute no chance dropping to 19.

My hope is we can get a quality center prospect with 32– bassey at 32 would be great. We can’t keep mitch and Noel — not happening.

Picks 19 and 21 I’m open to move up and or trade if the right nba player can be had.

32 will be a great pick for a center. At 32 we can also move up a tad into rd 1 late 27-31 without having it as a mega move.. I’m pretty sure Utah got gobert at 28

Tre Mann is a shooter. That’s it. So many flaws. He offers nothing that we don’t already have in the roster

Also he is below 6-4 and doesn’t have a good wing span. Unless he shoots like curry or is the best cg cg ever we don’t need him.

I didn’t even get the into his deficiencies.

Only Bassey and sharpe make sense. The rest are way too raw.

Nice to see that most are on the Bassey train. One of the few bigs who can play D and potentially space the floor. He should be there with our 2nd round pick.

Yes bassey I would like with one of our selections

I'm expecting some version of Mitch/Noel/Taj to be taking up most of the minutes for next year and prob the following, so marinating a guy in the GLeague for a year and then slowly bring him along would be a nice change

Ahh good point.

Knixkik @ 5/27/2021 10:58 PM
Bassey is a good option. Knicks need to add a big man prospect and wing prospect in the draft. No reason to add a PG because they have Quickley, will resign rose, Vildoza is their rookie prospect , and they will add a vet PG too. That’s 4 guys to cover the position.

Raw is what I like about Greg Brown. It’s the reason why he should be available to the Knicks. If you accept that you are likely filling slots 13-15 on the roster with draft pick rookies, it’s not the worst thing to pick pure physical upside and rely on the coaches to teach skills. Greg Brown could be special.

For most of the season, we seemed to miss one PG and one wing the most, but I’m not sure we have the same needs this summer.

Rose is here, we brought Vildoza (whatever he eventually turns out to be), and IQ can play PG for a few minutes, too. I want to say that we really have the quantity. What we need is a starting PG, and we will hardly find that around the 20th pick. Vildoza is that “rookie PG” we were looking for.

There are a few players I like in that position, but aren’t we going to make too much of a fuss? Isn’t it perhaps better to take the wing and center though?
