Knicks · Thank you New York Knicks! (The no crybabies thread) (page 1)

Hey, I am as disappointed by our performance against the Hawks as anybody. But perhaps we lost to a better team? Before we get into a promising offseason, with multiple draft picks and cap space, let's take a second to let in the significance of this past season. We went from one of the very worst teams to the 4th seed. Lots of fun, exciting basketball. Various players emerged with solid to excellent performances giving the appearance of an actual nucleus. Who were we crowing about after last season? And despite their human flaws -- Randle, Barrett, Quickley, Rose, Mitch, Obi -- perhaps add Bullock, Burks, Taj, Noel -- and ya never know maybe Frank! -- these are players to have hope for and root for going forward. And of course kudos to the FO, Thibs and his staff. It will be an interesting and exciting offseason with big hopes.

Anyway, I thought that needed to be put out there formally. If you want talk about trading Randle, that Barrett is no good, how much you hate Payton -- that's what every other thread is for.

Your New York Knicks!

I to am obviously disappointed with our playoff exit and season ending, but your post is an excellent reminder of what we as fans have to look forward to. Glass half full perspective for me definitely.

Very likeable team and a very enjoyable season that made most of us wrong about everything. When you think about April last year when we didn't know when or if Knicks basketball would happen again, and were stuck in mock draft/tankathon purgatory for months and months and months with only that terrible H-O-R-S-E experiment as televised sport, followed by the bubble which we weren't even invited to, and a depressing free agency that looked like rock bottom, this season was truly a rise from the ashes. Plus zero drama! Wow! Very appreciative to the players, coach and front office for what they managed to pull off against the odds

For me, this season was successful after the 37th win - securing a winning record. Everything that took place after that was icing on the cake. I think we can all agree that the Knicks have room to improve their roster and the assets and cap space to do it. I really look forward to watching them build this team.

Good luck to the Hawks. I hope they win it all.

My dad told me as a kid to root for the team that beat you -- if they win it all you lost to the best! I certainly prefer them over the Nuts.

Agreed. There were regular season games I felt more emotional about than last night. Having a hard time generating any bad feeling right not. This was a truly great season. Definitely wouldn't trade it for another lottery appearance.

agree 100% we should be grateful

more than I hoped for by a long shot. Was a very, very likable team. Hope they continue to grow

This is one of my favorite Knicks teams ever. They showed heart. No one gave them a shot - they were supposed to be dead on arrival. These guys showed stars the flowers that will get thrown at their feet if they come… future feels bright for once and it’s this particular team that achieved this

Knicks gave me a lot of enjoyment this year. I’m grateful. I’m also hopeful. Now we see what Rose has up his sleeve. Couldn’t do much last offseason and if anything the relatively quiet off season was probably a blessing. Knicks needed to build up their assets. Develop the young unknown players like barrett and Mitch. Develop the rookies. At least now we have players that can play. Not just former good collegiate athletes.

Call it anything you want but in terms of team building this year was the most productive in close to 30 years. At least potentially. The fun 2012-2013 run was nice but short lived. Not sustainable.

This SHOULD be the start of something special if they don’t fu** it up.

I’m rooting for the Bucks.

As far as our team, this year was the most entertaining since the Ewing era IMO. I hope most of the roster returns.

Would love (and expect) to see RJ, Julius, Obi, and IQ all improve. Rose as backup with reduced minutes. Noel develop a short jumper. Mitch stay healthy. Thibs not grind his guys into the ground. Bullock add some versatility. Burks work on his Kobe impersonation. Taj do exactly what he did this year. Less iso. More fast break points.

Add a playmaking stud or two, ideally adding some length as well.

The playoffs blew, but I feel like this is the best chance for a real turnaround since Ewing went down.

Playoff appearance. Draft picks. Cap space. Young developing talent. How can anybody be upset?
Papabear @ 6/4/2021 3:04 PM
Papabear Says

We had a good season. Now its time to build on what we have. We need some pure shooters and I don't care if they are not great defensive players. The game has changed. As I watch kids playing basketball in the park all they do is shoot 3s and try to dunk. Our team did a amazing job during the season. but we know what we have to do to get better and I bet Randel and RJ will spend a lot of time on the b ball court. They will be saying NEVER AGAIN!
