Knicks · Dame Time at the Garden? (page 1)

How long should I stay dedicated? How long til opportunity meet preparation” – @nipseyhussle

You don’t post something like that and not demand a trade. He’s exactly what we need and Portland needs to rebuild.

Does Obi, IQ, Knox, 4 first rounders get the deal done? Have to think with Mitch, RJ making no money and Julius making 19MM that they will have the money to also go after Leonard.

If it were reverse would u trade lillard for this? U don’t think they could perhaps get a jaylen brown type? You didn’t even offer rj. No way

Did the trailblazer get out the first round 🤔

They are on vacation like us

knicks1248 @ 6/4/2021 9:24 AM
It kills me how some Knick fans talk about getting Kawhi despite him missing 20 or more games in each of his last 4 seasons. They Hate on KP because of his injury history, but wouldn't mind a guy who takes games off even when fully healthy.

We need to build a deep team (like the Jazz)as opposed to some star laden team thats an injury way from lottery bound.

The lakers showed us 2 things, you can build a championship team overnight, but it won't last when the you build it with a injury prone player(AD) an aging star(lebron) and a rag tag mix of decent role players that don't fit

Totally agree with 1248 on this one...Lakers humiliating loss to DBook-led Suns should be instructive to the league. I'm hoping for a sustained run of competitive post-seasons like the 90s. I want a chip, but not if it's a one-and-done grab based on a starphuck.

That said, Dame is a perfect fit...but the Blazers can do WAY better than that trade.

I agree with this to an extend. But you do need a superstar to win a championship. Have to figure out how to build a deep team even after adding a star. The draft is a make or break. Celtics are an example of a team that had all of the picks and drafted poorly so the supporting cast was depleted. We had misses with Frank and knox but are rebounding well with Barrett, IQ and Toppin. Our best case is to add a significant FA like Chris Paul or Kyle Lowry that influences the team on the court and other players to join off the court and just continue to build. Our overall depth lessens the concern of adding an aging star. Eventually the right superstar will want to join and you just bridge the gap until then. With 2 first round picks, Knicks need to draft at least 1 player that can become a significant trade asset in the meantime. Similar to IQ. That way you have so many of these guys that you don’t have to trade them all to get a star via trade.

fishmike @ 6/4/2021 10:38 AM
As great as he is Obi/IQ/RJ and 4 FRPs is too much for a guy turning 31. Anthony Davis was 26 when the Lakers sent out all those guys. Dame is 31 with mileage. Obi/IQ/Knox and 3 FRPs is right.
knicks1248 @ 6/4/2021 11:48 AM
This would be like given them 6 1st picks considering those 3 players were also drafted in the 1st rnd.

For a player who never really took his team to the next level. I watched Dame go totally Randle down the stretch of the game last night, back to back unforced TO's (both lead to scores on the other end) one air ball, and another really bad shot selection, all in crunch time, just trying to do too much.

I'm not saying I wouldn't want Dame, I'm just saying I don't want to deplete our youth and future for a 2 yr run.

I trust Broc, Leon and WW won't even consider a trade like that, they just seem way to conservative.

Yeah, we should just stay the course and when an opportunity emerges we should be in a position to strike versus chasing after players entering the end of their prime and giving up a boatload of assets. Haven't we traveled this path many times before?
Rookie @ 6/4/2021 12:18 PM
Are we really going to start chasing players on the wrong side of 30 again? I think Lillard would fit great, but the cost for a few good years are s high for a team finally getting on the right track.
franco12 @ 6/4/2021 12:30 PM
I don't mind adding an over 30 year player with a big cap number attached, but we can't go trading away any of our assets.

Look at what Rose did when he joined us - he got us over the hump, made us competitive, played a supporting role.

I'd like to think we could get Jimmy Butler in a salary dump type deal, without giving up anything other than cap - and even there - I wonder.

Look at some of the teams that flamed out - Miami, Washington, the Clippers - they're all kinda in a bad place cap wise.

HoustonSprewell84 @ 6/4/2021 1:10 PM
We would have to include RJ for Portland to even pick up the phone.
smackeddog @ 6/4/2021 1:11 PM
I feel we are trapped in an ever repeating media time loop from which fans somehow never wise up about!
xblvdels3 @ 6/4/2021 1:16 PM
What’s the term? Star love making... lol

I know we need a star to win but it has to be the right one at the right age. Stop rushing to put a star on the team just to have a good 1.5 year run that ends up losing in second round each time. Choose wisely

Look how many top teams with stars are going on vacation just like us in the first round.

If you want to trade picks and players use them to move up in the draft

It wasn’t a fluke. We are a legitimate 4-6 seed as constructed right now. Prior to this year we won 23 and 17 games. This will be a great decade of knicks basketball. Stop rushing to make it a good 1.5 years and another bad 15 years.

unstopaball12 @ 6/4/2021 1:20 PM
Lol you would need to include Barrett to any trade for lillard.

It would probably be a RJ, sign and trade D Rose, Toppin, Knox and 3 first round picks and pick swaps

No worries he not leaving Portland and we will keep our players thanks lol

Nalod @ 6/4/2021 1:30 PM
If you get Dame, then Kawahi for free via Free agent, its a Two for one special.
Dame or Kawahi should not want to be here if we replicate a trade were we deplete our roster and leave teh cupboard empty.
That won’t work. Been there, done that.
Lakers succeeded were clips have failed thus far. But, clips win tonite its a game on!

I agree, no starphuching please.. I know to win your need a mercenary to join up but there is a limit.
