Our only hope is for Lillard to force a trade to us.
Even then, what are you left with considering his outsized salary. Unless it's a completely lopsided trade for the Knicks, I just can't see how you build more than what Dame had in Portland (if you could even get to that level).
I suppose if Kawhi came here via free agency, then trading a load of stuff for Dame would make sense then, but as that also has no chance of happening, I would agree

What leverage does Dame have to force a trade other than throw a hissy fit like Harden? Perhaps it's like one of those appreciation trades? "Hey, you've done so much for us, we know you're ready to move on, we'll try and make it work for both of us."
Honestly, unless it's a Westbrook/Wall type star for star type deal (i.e. Dame for Simmons), I don't see Dame getting moved or the Knicks being involved.

It would be the Melo trade all over again. Dame would be a perfect fit for NY, but we're talking a Garden sized package. And honestly, Houston's return for Harden should've been bigger. This is would be the wrong move at the wrong time.

Blazers are going to want Obi and IQ plus picks for Lillard
F that

Exactly my point. We just can’t create a team for the title that way. Then why would Lillard force that trade at all if the result was a team that is no better than the Blazers...

That would actually be a great thing for us, although I’m still not quite sure it would be a solution for this team, but of course the trade wouldn’t be like that. Blazers would want RJ, IQ and picks. Probably Obi too...

No thanks. All those talented young players for a guy on the wrong side of 30?
Don’t listen to the lazy knick haters. Obi is going to continue to develop into something special even if Randle sticks around

Yeah. I am not letting Obi, IQ, RJ or Mitch in any trade package.
So...Can we say that Harden and Dame are in the same category? The trade last year for Harden the Rockets got the following..
Rockets receive: G Caris LeVert, F Rodions Kurucs & three first-round picks (2022, 2024 and 2026) and four first-round pick swaps (2021, 2023, 2025, 2027) from Nets | G Dante Exum & 2022 first-round pick (via Milwaukee) from Cavs
So that is 4 first round picks and 1 very good player and filler.
You willing to part with 4 first round picks?

Dame for Ben Simmons (plus maybe a pick) seems the most reasonable path if Dame gets traded.

I dunno. Even if we could get Dame for just 4 first round picks? It is one thing to mortgage your future for an almost surefire championship today when you have the likes of Durant and Kyrie on your roster. It is quite another one with Randle and RJ. Is Dame-Randle-RJ THAT materially better than what Portland had this year? Is it better than what Philly has? The Bucks? Golden State with a healthy Klay? The Nets for another two years?

Blazers have him under contract through 2024 and he’s Mr Portland right now. They will hire Kidd. He’s going nowhere
Kidd just pulled out of the race to coach the blazers. I think David vanterpool gets it as Dame has been pushing for him to get the job or a darkhorse candidate is our very own johnnie Bryant. He has a good resume with coaching stints with snyder and thibs plus has a solid relationship with dame
If Lillard was 25-27 I’d say sure go hard after him. Offer Obi and picks. But he’s too old now
Did Kidd clown you? Confidently you just stated Portland would hire him. Like you know him and what up?
Lillard statement after the game might have been about Stotts pending departure than him wanting out.
Everything he has said leading up to this is he is loyal to Portland. Things change over night.
Sounds like Kidd got word Lillard is a goner.
Lillard isn’t just non the wrong side of 30 he’s also got miles on him. He was 3rd in the nba in minutes played this season after Randle and RJ who are both younger
You think this why? The ONE story you heard repeated due to a tweet?
Kidd does not want to be in a position where if he is hired it is perceived that it is only due to the franchise players' demand. He is also in a good place with the Lakers organization. Maybe he sees a future as the Lakers head coach. Which is a higher profiled and more attractive job for a guy like Kidd.
It’s like a half million dollar difference in salary. Kidd is turning down the job because he heard Lillard is probably leaving and it’s tear down time in Portland. Kidd doesn’t want to coach a rebuilding team with no direction. Kidd did this before to the nets when he was their coach

I don't think any of this is true.
Dame is gone.
The Nuggets handled them without Murray and CP3 just destroyed them. The blazers have no way to improve as they emptied their picks for Covington.
Unless they are taking back a shitty contract like love or KP, the blazer might not even get to the playoffs.
