I think the poor playoff performance might have sealed it for the writers. They got to see how little talent Thibs had to work with.
I really love Thibs as a coach. It's well deserved. He is our best coach since Lenny Wilkens. But he is not perfect and his offensive schemes need a major overhaul. Next season will be a big test for him. Will he evolve into an even better version of himself or will it be ISO after ISO with no end in sight. We shall see

Thibs is not an offensive guru, that’s a clear thing. But even if we had a coach who is much better in that segment, there is no chance he would repeat Thibs’ success who defensively made a miracle out of this team.

I think you guys are making assumptions that may not be true. He probably already has someone in that role. Based on what I've read about Thibs, I seriously doubt that he's the exact opposite of D'Antoni who had zero interest in defense and had a coaching philosophy of acquire better offensive players and get as many shot attempts up as possible.
I think Thib cares and works on the offense even though defense is his focus. Hard to be great at both given our talent level.

Maybe we didn't understand each other the best, where did I say that Thibs only cares about defense or that he doesn't have anyone by his side for the offensive part?
First, I prefer defense and that's why I like Thibs so much, but second, whether he had someone in charge of the attack or not, the fact is that we could have been a little more modern and diverse in the attack.

Woodsons is not head coach material and MDA needed a very specific type of player ( Nash or Harden) to be an effective head coach. He is the perfect offensive coordinator and his role with the Nets is much better suited for his abilities. Lenny Wilkens did more here with less. That's my criteria. And of course I judge by their entire resume and not just the last stop

Example of a New York compliment.
I pushed for Thibs going back to when the Wolves hired him. He is a well respected coach. A defensive minded coach. An experienced coach. And now showed he is also an overachieving coach that knows how to get the most out of unproven players. All we need now is to get him a top rated PG and some shooters.
We really think Thibs needs us to point out his teams deficiencies on offense? That he is unaware of our PG and shooting limitations?
MDA’s best teams had transition thing going and it was fueled by good defense! Winning is the end result. when he coached here he did not have the speed on defense and if you don’t have it there its not on offense!
I’ll congradulate our COY on a job well done with confidence he knows how to read his teams stats.

Woodson might have deserved it in 2013. Did a great job!
