Knicks · NBA Draft lottery 2021 (page 2)

I like where the Knicks are picking— we’ll get 2-3 good players

Naw, I think they still take Mobley, unless they trade down to three or four.

Knixkik @ 6/22/2021 10:26 PM
Some fallout here. Lowry is likely gone with his replacement at pick 4. Cleveland may also look at a guard and try to move Collin Sexton on draft night, who was a Leon Rose client.
wargames @ 6/22/2021 10:52 PM
Cade
Green
Mobley
Suggs

Cade is going to Detroit unless Detroit falls in love with Green
Houston is going to see the level of scorer Green is and hopes he is enough to carry Wall, Wood, and Gordon
Cavs see how mobile Mobley is and try to make it work knowing Love is gone sooner than later
Lowry is S&T to Philly for Ben or he becomes a FA

OKC will try to trade their haul to the Cavs and take Mobley to play next to Shai. Cavs won’t bite because they have a bunch of kids on the roster already

That's what I was thinking. Just not sure what Cleveland would want from us. What if Cleveland didn't ask for much but we had to take on Kevin Love's contract?

Might be a worthwhile risk tbh.

But if the lottery is rigged, guess who ends up top 4 with reasoning and we'll see what happens!

My guesses would be: Raptors as a thanks for agreeing to be in Tampa Bay (likely 4th)

Rockets (owner is in huge dire financial problems)

Minnesota DO NOT land a top 3, so the Warriors get their pick, to help them out by allowing them to trade 2 firsts with Wiseman for a vet that can help them win now (Warriors were meant to be a huge cash cow for the league, so it can't afford to see them rot on the vine)

OKC fall out the top 4 to punish tanking, but they have so many firsts they'll likely package them plus SGA to trade up to get Cade

Ha ha! My predictions were all true! Conclusive proof that the lottery is rigged! (joke, probably just fluke, but it will keep me suspicious for years to come)

Actual results:

1. Detroit
2. Houston
3. Cleveland
4. Toronto
5. Orlando
6. Oklahoma City
7. Golden State (from Minnesota)
8. Orlando (from Chicago)
9. Sacramento
10. New Orleans
11. Charlotte
12. San Antonio
13. Indiana
14. Golden State

smackeddog @ 6/23/2021 2:47 AM
Wonder what the Cavs do with Allen if they get to draft Mobley

If you're Detroit would you accept SGA, plus several of OKC's firsts (this years plus future ones) for Cade?

Philc1 @ 6/23/2021 2:53 AM
I wonder if the pistons will draft Cade since they already have DSJ locking down PG

LOL, one can assign reasoning for the red string to work:

1. Detroit. Electric cars are the future! They need hope.
2. Fertitta had to deal with Morey China comment!
3. Cleveland. Make up for Bennett and deal is they move Sexton cheap to knicks with Love.
4. Had to move to Tampa despite it was Canada who told them teams could not bring their covid with them. Real reason is still to be determined.
5. Orlando. Same reason for number 4. Its Florida. The DEvos families Owns Amway and are from Michigan.
6. OKC. Penance for tanking? OK. Silver wants PResti to redistribute some of the picks so they will move up.
7. Golden State. Silver wants them to replicate the curry pick here.
8. Knicks will move up here and draft 8th until they fucking get it right!
9. They Stay here becuase its funny.
10. Nola. They package that with Ball for Frank, Knox, and OBI so we have nothing to talk about anymore.

He is intriguing. Tough to get that potiental upside that young. I wonder if our 2 firsts this year and Toppin gets it done

Throw in a protected pick and it gets the job done I think. However if they take Mobley then no deal I’m afraid.

Well...there was talk about moving Sexton even before the lottery. Sexton is really a PG/combo guard playing SG. He and Garland form a very undersized backcourt and I believe together they were one of the worst starting defensive backcourts in the NBA. Also there was some talk about his teammate thinking it shoots too much.

So the issue is what would they accept in return for Sexton and given his stats they probably would want quite a bit unless they consider unloading Kevin Love's contract as valuable compensation.

Yeah, tough decision. Especially since we'll soon get the inevitable DSJ professionally edited summer video showing him working out or draining threes in the gym or executing some highlight reel dunks or him scoring 50 in a pro pick up game.

DSJ will always be first team all-offseason. Will be interesting to see if he's even in the league next season. If Alonzo Trier can't find a gig how does DSJ keep a job?

The thing is that Sexton is still a really valuable piece. He's a pretty damn good volume scorer at the age of 22( 24.3 pts per game on 57.3% TS, 48% FG and 38% from 3 is no joke) and has been improving his game every year. His playmaking is bad, but his improvement in that department is pretty promising, so if there is a way to make it work, then they will. Plus, Should Jalen Green fall to them, he's not a very good defender at this stage so nothing much would change. If they snag Mobley, then they could try slotting him at the 4 with Allen.

They would definitely love a team to take KLove's deal. His injuries/ mental health issues have really hurt him not to mention his on court outbursts don't really reflect well on the team. No one would take on that contract but us doing so would give them like 60m in cap space.

Assuming Green does fall to them for whatever reason, I think a fair trade would be something like Obi + Knox + 2023 unprotected pick + protected pick in 2025 + pick swap + future 2nd for Love and Sexton.

TPercy @ 6/23/2021 12:23 PM
Lowry(fingers crossed lol)
Sexton
RJ
Randle
Robinson

Rose
IQ
Bullock
Love
Bassey/Garuba/etc..

Vildoza
Mann

Luxury tax will be crazy in 2022 but we'll have all the players we need to be reasonably competitive assuming that Sexton and RJ continue to make big strides in their game

Cavs:

Garland
Green
Okoro
Nance
Allen

Knox
Toppin
the rest of their g leaguers

Wow, that's a lot, especially for a player nearing the end of his rookie deal. If a team includes Love's contract in the deal I think he could be had for less than that.

If we trade for him we are giving him an extension. Max? Not sure what that number is. Leon was his client. That might not work for him. For all we know Leon might not think much of him off the court. Works both ways

No. Cade plugs into three frontcourt positions. Maybe four as his bodies matures. Killian isn't factoring into their decision.
