I could see us going after Monk- hopefully we're covered if we lose Trey Burkes, or Bullock
Why? Why do you guys either want Monk or think the Knicks would go after him?
The Knicks just drafted IQ, Grimes. We have RJ at the SG spot too.
How does this in any way make sense?
This thread is more about Graham who would be the type of fearless leader we need at PG and is only 26.
Quickly & Monk are not necessarily redundant. Monk is more of a pure shooter and bucket getter.
PG: Graham, Deuce, Luca
SG: Monk, Quickly, Grimes
SF: Barrett, Knox
PF: Randle, Obi
C : Mitch, Taj, Sims
There is just about a zero chance the Knicks FO would think about Monk as a starter or player that would fit on the team. Monk is 100% redundant with RJ, IQ, Grimes.

You would be correct. https://www.basketball-reference.com/pla...

He can snake his way into the paint, bit his finishing is so bad that almost negates it. Steph Curry used to suck at the rim an he improved, so anything is possible. But I don't see Graham making that improvement.

i would't consider him until super way late in the process assuming he could be had for peanuts, and even then i don't see him as a good fit.
Monk is a decent second draft prospect. At a low cost? Why not? The team maybe looking to replace the scoring of Rose and Burks. I have faith that IQ will pick up some of the load. Can't go in trusting that all the rookies, including our uninspiring Argentinian Olympian point guard, will fill the rest. That said, I'd rather have Burks.

Not the end of the world. We can still pay more.

Agreed. I could only see if it Rose doesn’t come back and they want a combo guard off the bench alongside IQ.
What’s the point of signing Monk? We have a younger better version of him with IQ who wasn’t trash his first 3 years in the league

Because we need assets- if you can by low, why not take a chance- showed flashes this season of taking a step forward at last (maybe his substance misuse issues are behind him and the suspension was a wake up call.
You can sign Graham to an offer sheet in the 15-16mm per annum range and see if Charlotte matches. They can't keep every guard on that roster.
I'm not a fan of Monk, but there's a universe where develops into a Burks type. Bouknight totally duplicative with his skillset so they had to let him leave. Burks is a more under control player and plays with veteran cool at this point in his career. You don't see that from Monk right now, but the scoring talent/ability to get his shot is there. He, like Burks, may need to bounce around a bit to find his fit.
