Knicks · Any of these make sense? (page 1)

PG stuff

Would Reggie Jackson accept less than 10m for 1 year deal?

Does Dennis Schroeder have any better options to get paid besides NY?

Should we revisit trade for Colin Sexton?

Should we call Sacramento and try for 1 of their 3 PG via trade?

Wait to see if Lillard demands out of Portland?

Other

Oubre for an off the bench option as he's still unsigned?

Any sense to add shooting depth with a trade... Lauri Markannen still with Chicago but seems on the outs

Cam Reddish reportedly can be had for a 1st round pick - would add more shooting, is young and played with RJ in college

Buddy Hield still available... is he going to leave Sac?

Any of these seen worthwhile to pursue? If not - are we really done? Not sure what else is left as options unless the plan all along is to wait for Dame to want out...

BigDaddyG @ 8/3/2021 6:42 PM
No, Reggie seems to love it in LA and likely isn't taking less than $10M. Dennis? Who knows? I didn't hear that the Knicks ever stopped with the Sexton talks. I don't even want to talk about any wing options at this point.

I know PG is a concern but do we really not think Rose and Quickley are capable of splitting the PG minutes with Vildoza and McBride sprinkled in ? Just some food for thought.

I have no idea, but we're going to find out soon. Quick said he worked on his playmaking this off-season. Let's hope he made some strides.

The post I've been meaning to make. Rose played at a high level last year. averaging about 27 minutes a game. Those who say he is "old" he is 3 1/2 years younger than Chris Paul whom there was much clamor for. I agree there is a curiosity as to what IQ brings this year, but it wouldn't shock me if he took a step up.

Include Burks in the mix.

I don’t.

I figure Rose is good for 60 games, 28 minutes. That leaves 60% of the theoretical PG minutes to fill.

IQ is not ready for starter minutes. We can’t expect McBride to step in to that large of a role. Vildoza might surprise, but counting on him is likewise betting on lightening striking twice. So you have an older PG with big injury history and a ton of mileage and a band aid bull pen of PGs.

If we can get Schroeder, I’d feel a lot better. Langston Galloway even! Ron Baker?

You wonder if there’s a concern about Schroder. Like if he’s so hellbent on big money that coming here for cheaper will cause chemistry issues. As for Reggie Jackson I’m not sure what’s going on there. Everyone knows exactly what the clippers can offer him based on his cap hold. He either wants it or he doesn’t. Knicks still need another guard on the roster but they may be content. One name to float out there is Raul Neto. He’s a combo guard who can play d and do a little of everything on offense (but not a lot.). If Knicks are just looking for an insurance policy than he would be a better option than the scary thought of bringing back Payton. Another possibility is Knicks trying to work out a deal for Jalen Brunson. Knicks may just not like the options available and prefer adding one via trade. They have all summer.

Is a sign and trade with the Mavs still alive? Can we get Brunson in a Bullock deal?
Philc1 @ 8/3/2021 10:53 PM
Sign Reggie with the remaining $15-17 million in cap space after we get rid of Knox

Contracts still can’t be signed for a few days so it’s alive. Knicks would need to give way more though. I wonder if Dallas would take their 2023 pick back. They are unable to move any future picks because of the protections on it and may want some flexibility back for future trades. I wonder if the Knicks would even do that. I just think there’s a bigger plan at PG which is why we aren’t seeing anything. Everyone acting like free agency is over and disappointing because we are running it back and only upgraded the wing.

I don't know man. Knox's contract is guaranteed so to open space we need to trade him somewhere with cap space. I'm not sure if any teams outside of OKC have space, so you know what that means. We won't give up a pick to get out of Knox's deal.

I would totally give back the Dallas pick for Brunson- I doubt we'd get a better player with it. Heck, I might include Charlotte's or some of the second rounders we have.

This is interesting- I saw one writer bring it up. I don't see why Dallas would give away Brunson, thought it would save them the MLE I suppose so you never know.

Knew something bigger was coming. Here it is.

Rose, Walker, IQ, Luka or McBride perhaps. Some posters want to climb down off the bridge?

I hope so. Great depth to keep everyone fresh and nice combination of win-now and development.
