Knicks · THE FINAL APPRECIATION FRANK Ntilikina Thread (page 1)

knicks1248 @ 8/4/2021 5:40 PM
Never seen a fan base so opposite when it came to a player who produced so little..

I wonder if he had any idea how divided he had knick fans, I mean this kid Had more threads than Melo, Marbury, Amare combined.

Somebody asked in another thread who's going to be the new whipping boy, I'm betting it's Mitch if he doesn't get his act.

Hope he stays in france and for a couple yrs to get his confidence up..come back when he's around 25/26..he'll be ready to play next to Dame

Caseloads @ 8/4/2021 5:48 PM
no appreciation for Frank. he did nothing
Swishfm3 @ 8/4/2021 5:50 PM
whipping boy?

We had realistic Knick fans and delusional Knick fans. The delusional ones felt like Frank Ntilikina was getting picked on because they couldn't look past his many shortcomings. Very similar to Jeremy Lin, Mozgov, Hernangomez, Fields, Ewing Jr, Dotson, etc.

Wish him nothing but the best in his next destination

frank stunk it up again at the olympics - going 0-4 and scoring zero points for france versus slovenia

Had more fouls than points during Olympics, so pretty much mirrored his NYK's play

Because he stinks. He's not even good enough for FIBA basketball. It's sad. He's a bench warner everywhere he goes.

My username is just stupid if Frank is gone. I guess I'll pretend I was referring to Fournier! LOL.

That's what I assumed in the first place I'm guessing that name has, at most, a three-year shelf life.

I always wonder if giannis was in the same situation, would he have blossomed into the player he is now.
5 coaches in 4 years. Usually on a short leash, played as a SF by fizdale the Buffoon, irregular minutes or no minutes, surrounded by the likes of Lou admunson and Travis wear.
Maybe he would not have improved enough in a stable environment but he had no chance in this chaos.
He's a winning player, always doing the little things that don't show up on the stat sheet and an elite one on one and help defender.
It's such a waste because he has all the physical tools to be an important player for a contender.
TheGame @ 8/6/2021 5:16 AM
Good luck Frank. You gave us memories, and a great topic of debate for the past four years. I hope you learn to get more aggressive on offense with your next team. Good luck buddy.
ramtour420 @ 8/6/2021 7:43 AM
We could still keep him for the vet minimum, can't we? I know in the back of my mind that it's time to move on( not because of type of player he is but, mainly because Thibs chose to not play him) but I just want at least one of those defense first team first, deadly from 3 players, even as the 15th player from the bench
Panos @ 8/6/2021 8:40 AM
It's pretty sad that with THREE #8/9 picks in four years we ended up with Frank, Knox and Toppin. Not one difference maker.

we have Kevin Knox who is a giant question that we need to find answers for.

Question - if you have 1 roster spot and your the Knick FO - who do you keep in it if you had the choice - Frank or Kevin?

Honestly - I might pick Frank because of what he could become - a stout defender with a good 3pter- as opposed to Knox who is maybe just a weak defender with a better 3 pter.

Haters just can't let go.

ha. there is a point tho where you make your own judgement about whether someone shows signs they have a shot of developing where they are. the end of last season was my point with frank. i don't see those signs here and i don't see them with playing for thibs. i'm satisfied we gave it enough time and i'm satisfied with letting him go. i got about one more year with kevin as well. its not a crime to have swung and missed.

also gotta say i love what i see from grimes and mcbride's college play - strong D, outstanding outside shooting, apparently high motors. not a bad idea to get thibs exactly what he's looking for.

The only hater is frank himself for disrespecting the franchise and the game for not leveling up his play.

If a BOXER goes in the ring and gets beat 9 out of 10 times and people start saying he sucks, are they haters..

gradyandrew @ 8/6/2021 11:25 AM
Too early, too soon! The off season isn't over, I don't think Frank signed anywhere else yet. If there's a roster spot maybe he comes back, we still don't know.
fitzfarm @ 8/6/2021 11:43 AM
Frank has a place in the NBA as a three and d wing off the bench. He shot over 40% from three last year in limited minutes. He’s not a pg but can bring the ball up if needed. I’ve been a big supporter of Frank I love his defense. I wish he showed the aggression on offense that he showed on defense, with that said he never did just flashes and injury’s followed every strong performance..

I wish him the best and to keep working on his game. If he ever clicks watch out but don’t hold your breath.

I thought he deserved more minutes last year just on his defense alone.

Thank you, Frank Ntilikina, for making the HoF for most epic workout videos.

In baseball terms, you'd say he would have been like a 4 or 5 tools prospect that didn't pan out. Ntilikina and KP are almost fully responsible for "training" our UK base here to obsess about wingspan like it's a critical quality in a player. (wingspan is more of a nice to have - many players get it done with lesser tools)

He's also the be the poster child for missed opportunities. It seems like every time he got his number called and was going to get extended PT, a day or two later he'd be hobbled and miss a few weeks. By then someone else emerged and owned the minutes.

At age 23, he's far from done, but now he'll have a bit of the same stigma as most older players/prospects. His tools are better than ever - he has filled out probably better than expected and has further refined his skills, yet somehow his flashes of brilliance on the court seem like they were years ago.

He's seemed like nice enough of a human being and seemed to work harder than anyone (per his workout vids) but maybe he just doesn't have "it".
