Knicks · PG situation (page 1)

I have to say the PG plan is one of the most impressive makeovers from this front office. They essentially added Walker and Rose for nothing and can balance them out to keep each on a minutes restriction. Quickley was an incredible value at the end of the first round and while he’s a combo guard, he will have plenty of on-ball development opportunities going forward. McBride seems like the top “developmental PG” of the bunch in the sense that he is a defensive minded PG that can develop behind Walker/Rose as an elite backup, maybe more. But my guess is they will invest in him for the long haul. Vildoza and Jokubaitis are 2 lottery tickets essentially. Taking 2 shots on out of the box PG prospects trying to find the next Dragic. My guess is Vildoza might not have a path to success here if he doesn’t show out in Vegas, given his age. We will see. But Walker/Rose/Quickley/McBride/Jokubaitis/Vildoza. What an opportunity to set up the PG position for the foreseeable future.

Like the Kemba move. Would have preferred Reggie but it looks like he didn’t want to leave LA even if we offered more $

Not mentioned much in the Kemba euphoria is the condition of his knee - advanced arthritis. I imagine a hopeful scenario is limited games and minutes and he can get some time in the playoffs. Of course if he has a good stretch Thibs will play him 40 minutes a game.

Hopefully we are only giving Kemba a one year deal

Having Rose and Walker both should hopefully mean essentially splitting their minutes 24 each per game. With the depth this team has I can’t see them sharing the floor a ton together.

I haven’t seen any contract details yet, mostly because a signed contract doesn’t exist yet but I’m anticipating 1 yr $10-12 mil
