McBride is the guy I wanted in the draft… his defense is top notch and can ball on offense. I bet thibs is gonna find minutes for him and play some small ball lineups . He also allows thibs to give kemba and rose rest on back to backs .

McBride is the guy I wanted in the draft… his defense is top notch and can ball on offense. I bet thibs is gonna find minutes for him and play some small ball lineups . He also allows thibs to give kemba and rose rest on back to backs .
I actually thought we'd take him in the first round when we had the 2 picks.
I still can't believe we were able to get him and Rokas, who I didn't know about prior to the draft, but who really looks like a player, and like McBride, he can defend.
I think both are late 1st round talent.
Rokas has looked intriguing
McBride can be a good rotation player anytime Walker, Rose or Quickley are out. He can also serve as Thibs’ situational defender like Frank was. Unlike Frank though, McBride plays with confidence and can be a more consistent threat from 3. He was probably worth the 19th pick at the end of the day and we landed him at 36 for some unknown reason. The fact the Knicks even traded back from 32 and took a stash at 34 and waited until 36 for the player they clearly targeted says there was someone here we don’t know but that’s ok because kid is a stud and fits this new knick culture to a tee. Knicks did some funny things on draft night but got amazing value with the 4 players they drafted where they drafted them, especially Deuce.

It's hard to believe he fell into the 2nd rnd, I didn't even think he would be available at 19.

I'm really impressed with what I've seen from McBride. Trying to temper that it's only SL, but he looks like a great fit as a system rotation guy under Thibs. Actually think that he might be more equipped to run the point over IQ (who is showing to be more of a 2 IMO). He may have to start the season in Westchester as the Knicks already have a projected 10 man rotation and having a Rookie rot on the bench will not be the best for his development.
Knicks management has shown a good feel for where guys are gonna get drafted these last couple of years. Grimes and McBride were rumored to be in the mix at 19 and 21 (at bare min it was reported Thibs really liked them both). We managed to move down to 25 to get Grimes and waited till 36 to take McBride. That was after maneuvering around the 20's the year before to get their target in Quickley.
Reality is there were a lot of similar talents at PG in a certain range. Looked like Tre Mann pulled away from the group because of his size and shotmaking skill, but Cooper, Ayo and Butler went a bit after McBride and Springer and Bones went a bit before. That group of players were more or less randomized in most mock drafts- not a lot of obvious separation by evaluators. McBride coming in with supreme confidence at this level- not always easy to know who's gonna do that. We're a bit lucky, a bit knowledgable and we are benefiting from a potentially flat/deep talent pool (we'll ultimately see if all those guys are good).
My new favorite Knick of the month player. But I liked him from the 1st game I saw him play in summer league. His box score didn't jump at you, but when you watch him move around the court, it was clear to me. I love 2 way players. And I think his multi sport skill set, gave him the toughness (ex football player) and confidence to play at this level, especially on defense. What he provides on offense is just icing on the cake. His cake is defense.
Guy's on fire
he was tenacious on D and he hit a lot of shots when they mattered or late in clock. Didn't wilt -- that's for sure.

Seems similar to last year w/ guys like Quick, Bane, Flynn, Maxey, Pritchard all going around one another.
McBride also seems to have a very good feel for his teammates and making the right pass. Something I haven't seen as much w/ Grimes, but hopefully comes w/ more time. I like both of them, but McBride's D makes him an immediate contributor and it's great to think about bringing him into hoepfully smother Trae Young.

McBride really seems to have a pretty good feel out there. I think the Knicks did well by setting up some "scaffolding" by basing around Obi and Quickley, and letting the rest of the pieces fall into place.
This gives the summer league players a sense of what it will be like playing with the NBA Knicks and playing within a role.
Under different circumstances - if Quickley and Obi weren't playing - Grimes probably would be tearing things up, since he's already proven he can excel in this format during the NBA combine. Right now he's almost relegated himself to a Bullock-like spot up shooting role.

This kid's release is quick and he's the anti-parabola-Landry-Fields 2 guard. His shot from three is almost without arc. The path of least resistance.
Everything we hoped Frankie was supposed to be on O.
I'm guessing the new hatergoat is Knox, followed by Obi, once Knox departs. Wow Elf and Frank are gone. The hate's going to need to be channeled somewhere.

Honestly it might be Barrett. He probably overachieved a bit shooting the ball and people will hate if he doesn’t step another massive step forward. He’s not the shiny new toy anymore. Expectations are high.
