This year, we are expected to be better, and now we are being hunted. This team is too fragile mentally to handle expectations. We had our best season in YEARS. We are still new to this thing called winning.

When no one expects anything from us, we win.

When everybody expects us to win, we lose.. I think 🤔 last year was an aberration. This year, with expectations shooting through the roof, will be the real test. This year, we will know if this franchise has completely turned around. If so, I think a championship within the next 10 years is possible. Or will we go back to losing again. Might have to get nba league pass this year, instead of live streaming. 🤔

I totally agree with you. This year is when we will need to use the "mental" part of the game much more so than last year where it was all skill and hustle. Playing under expectations adds another layer but that's what winners must have, or develop

This is defeatist. We were good for most of last year. Teams did their best to stop us most of last year. Covid played a part with teams not always having their full roster but that effect can’t really be calculated or forecasted. Rose wasn’t here all season. Mitch wasn’t here all season.

We have a better team this season. Should be a fun one if everyone stays healthy. Let’s hope for the best and enjoy having a good team again. We have come a long way in a short time, truly incredible!

Nalod @ 8/27/2021 7:04 AM

Lets not forget we were tied with ATL, with the head to head tiebreaker to determine. After that we finished a game ahead of Miami.
Very easily finished 6th.
WE are improved. ATL if their chemistry with Coach Mac is real will have a full season with him.
Miami, a finals team before had issues last year. Maybe they over it.
ONe can’t really measure one year to another. Nobody here would like to see them fall a bit.
Vegas had us at 22 wins last year. We did 41 in short season. They have us 42 games this year.
Nothing is written in stone.
Personally I think Indy and Chicago are not to be ignored.

I tried to be very clear, but perhaps I wasn't. Not sure where you got defeatist from. Just so we are on the same page : " Defeatist- a person who expects or is excessively ready to accept failure." I said nothing of sort. I said that this year will bring additional challenges which we should accept and overcome on our way to becoming champions.
Defeatist would be saying that this year we are gonna suck because of those additional challenges

I think The Playoffs have got you guys on the fence.

We are winning upwards of 49-55 games if we are primarily healthy. This isn't some young in experience coach, or his staff, this is a FO and coaching staff completely on the same page. You bring back high character team first guys who are familiar with the system. They did a solid job leveling up in areas needed with VETS.

We don't have 1 yr contracts, we don't have a coach just getting his feet wet, we don't have a young ass roster with guys more interested in fortnight.

We have a solid squad of vets and youth, it's the most balanced Roster we have had in decades, this team is going to surprise a lot of ppl

Fournier and Kemba (if healthy) will go down as 2 of the best acquisitions this offseason come mid season report

It's not so much the Knicks, but other teams improved. 49-50 games is probably the ceiling. The team is likely going to end up somewhere in the mid to late 40s.

I would have to say we're improved as well Bullock/Elfrid -- Fournier/Kemba. Not saying we're winning 50-some games and the division once again, but I think this FO gave us the best of all three worlds: 1) brought back the grizzled vets that dragged us to 4th, 2) the main yoots are all alright and will have a full SL and camp behind them for this season to hopefully ward off the soph slump, and 3) brought in some quality offensive firepower, that won't have to be leading the league in minutes to get the job done. Coming in at #4 will be the bonus minutes we get out of all these young and hungry draftees.

I like what our bench is going to bring to the 3rd quarter. Should give opponents fits, if DRose can stay healthy, and possibly with MitchRob beginning the season (whenever that happens to be for him) with the second unit, benefitting immensely from playing with a top tier PG. Lob city East.

And now Julius has the "fluke" chip planted firmly on his shoulder. Along with pretty much the same vets playing with him, that should go along way to even out the "mental" parts of things. RJ can now also quietly and steadily improve.

We already suck worse than last year, according to the media. All we need now is a proclamation from Charles the Bald telling everyone he doesn't see us making the playoffs. That will look nice taped all over the walls during camp.

I agree. However I do think our depth gives us an advantage during the 82 game regular season. A lot of teams in both conferences may have the big fancy names but they have no depth on e those guys get hurt

Our depth was a big reason we got the 4 seed last season. If critical guys like Mitch got hurt we never missed a step. Similarly if something happened to Randle or RJ we would be fine

Not sure Why would people think a player who has gotten better (statistically and mentally) every yr since he's been in the league "A FLUKE". IMO Jeremy Lin was a Fluke right along with his boy Landry Fields.

Our biggest weakness was scoring and shot creation from the wing.....that's been addressed.

Aside from that, we have the best coaching staff in the league, they literally made lemonade with their lemons more so than any coach in the league.

Really, you should try to recognize Sarcasm/humor is a form of intelligence.

You should look up what Fluke means in the context you used.

Wait a second, did Nalod just say I used a form of intelligence?

1248, if you haven't read and heard that most of the media on the planet are betting on Julius not being able to match the regular season he just had, you really need to invest in windows in that rock you're under. Again, his playoff performance coupled with the what have you done for me lately mentality, as you pointed out in another thread, adds to the size of the chip on his shoulder. There are very little signs that Randle's going all complacent with his new contract, but you never know if the results are going to be akin to what the Yankees are getting out DJ Lameheiu this season, after flirting with batting .400 the past two seasons. They paid the machine.

Never heard anyone refer to Linsanity and Landry Fields in the same sentence. I may have not been playing that close attention, but other than the goofy Ivy League "reading the book" routine, what did Landry do to contribute to Lin's one-hit wonderfulness? Shooting parabola jumpshots? Don't remember anyone talking up 'Fields of Dreams' or anything...

We thought we had the steal of the 2nd round with Landry..

Some things are facts, some are opinions. Don’t blame media for your inaccuracy.
Its not hard to decipher between the two.

Landry Fields was not a fluke. He had two solid campaigns with us. He developed a nerve condition after he signed that contract with Toronto, then a labral tear in his hip and had to medically retire.

Lin was not the one hit wonder many think. He had the talent. What he did not have was the body/durability to sustain the talent.

IN both cases its common to define them as “busts” if the measure was the money. Both exceeded their draft status. Fields was a second round pick. After two years he got over paid perhaps as incentive to change teams. A bit like Mills did with Timmy Hardaway.
Lin was undrafted.

Seems your intimidated by Ivy league players and FO. The irrational Mills complex, distain for Lin, and Landry.

Landry has a degree from stamford with a legit GPA, married a model, succeeded in the nba to earn that contrct, is not THE ASSISTANT GM FOR THE ATLANTA HAWKS since October of 2021. Previously he was the GM of the Austin Toros, the Spurs team of course. The dude is not a fluke, he is successful on the court and off.

In defense of DJ. He's 33 years old (an age where non-"juiced" MLB players often start to hit the wall) and hitting is pretty much down across MLB.
