Knicks · Grimes is the new Frank (but with an offensive game) (page 1)

Grimes really clamped down. His ability to fight through screens, anticipate steals, and stay in front of his man reminds me of Frank. Thibbs is going to love this kid as a defensive stopper.

Wish he were the new Spree (but with a three point shot).

Lol. I guess calling him the new Frank was not good for those who did not like Frank, but I like defense and say what you will about Frank, he was a very solid defensive player when given minutes. His ability to fight over screens and shut down players was game changing. Grimes came in and he looked like the only player who could slow down Neto (who was killing us all game). Grimes fights through screens very well, he anticipates passes, and he can stay in front of his man. Plus, he is a solid offensive player who should be able to hit open threes. When we lost Bullock, we lost a lot of defense. Grimes will be that stopper off the bench when we need to shut someone down. It won’t happen immediately but by the end of the season, Thibbs is going to use Grimes like he tried to use Frank to come in and shut a hot opponent down.

Grimes is going to really help. He’s a thibs player for his defense and activity. He can shoot too. He has a nice future here as a 2-way wing.

Grimes is a poor man's Bullock. I can see RJ and Grimes Sharing the defensive responsibility on each teams star wing. Will be a great nba experience for young Grimes in his rookie year. RJ defense looks good, but on days when that jumper is flat, Grimes coming off the bench for RJ doesn't hurt our offense or defense. In fact he helps spread the floor more than RJ. Looking for a solid season with unproven and young potential stars.

I think Grimes can be a Bullock replacement in the long term. I think Deuce is what the knicks front office envisioned Frank should be now. A lockdown defender with offense.

You know considering the Knicks held up the contract even after it was clear he would be out for a year, you think he'd give them a discount after that contract.
