Can the subs keep it up? They get gassed?
At the same time, bucks got first unit. They now tired and bring in rested players?
2nd unit did their jobs!!!! Great comeback.
Get the riot gear!!!!
If they get tired then so be it. We ride with who got us here.
And thats what Thibs did. Good run. Bucks were gassed and we almost got them.

Kemba is washed. Knicks can't over use Rose because if he gets hurt they will likely miss the playoffs

A win tonight to improve to 8-4 after 12 would become an awesome start to our season.
No Middleton? Chances are no Brook Lopez? Milwaukee on the road? On a back to back? I like our chances.
The chicken did not count. I liked our chances also. But reality bites.
Good news is IQ looked good and Obi got that special thing going.
Kemba looking washed up. Hope this is not the trend for him.
Barrett -28
Randle -26
Robinson -15
Fournier -22
Walker -22
Everyone else who played in plus numbers
Gibson +3
Rose +10
Burks +10
Quickly +16
Toppin +14
Well, now we all know our 2nd unit lineup should be on the court for 8 to 10 straight min in the 2nd quarter. Hard Loss .. but great ball-movement, and interior defense in the 4th qtr. from the Knicks !!!

Still thinking Quickley can be the guy at PG eventually. He brings it on defense now and has improved as a facilitator in small increments. He will never be a pure PG but a combo guard who can moonlight in that role alongside Randle and Barrett if he keeps developing. Not sure what to make of Kemba at this point. Maybe eventually Quickley becomes the starter and you let Rose and Kemba run loose off the bench together and cook opposing team second units without concern for defense.
It looks like it might not be too early for change after all. Thibs might be considering some rotation changes.
It's been one of our issues for awhile now no matter how good our record was the signs were there.

If I were the coach, I would so flip the script, start my second unit one game, have my starters all on the bench watching, and sub them in. Maybe that’s too simplistic of an approach?
Some perspective
Bucks are a good team and had to shoot lights out to win
Knicks have great depth and coaching
Biggest issue at the moment IMO is starting unit is not stopping dribble penetration. At the moment KW and EF are not hitting shots so the subpar defense is all the more of an issue

The knicks did not get outcoached. That’s frustration talking and a bit absurd.
They held giannis in check. They made a 24 point come back against a team that hit something like 25 threes

Connaughton, Brown, Rubio, OG, Trent....Shooting the lights out is becoming a trend against us.

In a way Thibs did get out coached. It has become obvious the Thibs defensive game plan is stop drives at all cost. Well that clearly does not work in today's NBA when everyone can hit open 3's. That will work wonders on stopping Giannis and it did. The problem comes if Giannis or whoever drives to the hoop gets the pass off because once that happens their shooters will be wide open. Open 3's has been a consistent every game with us. Even when Kemba and EF are not playing so we can't blame all of it on them. It is what blew the game back open in the clutch time last game and both EF and Kemba were glued to the bench.
In the 4th I watch and on one drive after a PNR both PNR defenders gravitate to the ball handler. The weakside defender cheats so far into the paint that he goes an uncoverable distance from the corner 3pt shooter. Ever notice why we always get killed by corner 3's? You have your answer. So now your weakside corner 3 is wide open and the 3pt shooter who is only 1 pass away is wide open since both PNR defenders doubled on the drive. Want to hear the kicker? The strong side 3spt shooter who is a hockey assist away is also open because the strong side corner defender also cheated a distance he can not recover if the pass is successfully made.
I'll keep posting it until it changes - these home losses where we are allowing teams to outwork us and outhustle us needs to stop! I can take losses if they happen because the other team is simply better. And I'm not saying we are better than the defending Champs, even though they were missing some guys. They still have the best player in the league and the best defensive guard in the league and were looking for revenge. We knew they would be ready. Yet for some reason, we couldn't match their energy or effort. Getting outrebounded by 12 and allowing 26/50 threes is simply unacceptable!
This falls on the HC and the vet leaders. Thibs needs to somehow get these guys ready to play from the start of the game and the 3rd quarter. We're too lackadaisical out there. First play of the game RJ throws a lazy pass that results in a turnover. First few minutes we did not close out good enough and allowed Allen, Portis and Ojeleye wide open threes. That set the tone. We left Connaughton on an island by himself wide open all game too! Like how much more do we need to get killed from three before we make an adjustment? Why are we continuing to leave these shooters to help? Especially when Giannis is having a subpar game! Why are we helping?! So I did not like the gameplan last night at all.
And the vets need to get it together. We did not sign Kemba and Fournier to shoot 2/13, 0/6 from three and 4 points. If these guys are not going to defend, they need to score. Simple as that. And Randle needs to do a more consistent job of playmaking. He's been too 'Melo' in some games trying to do everything himself (1 assist last night). His effort and motor on defense also needs to be more consistent. He's taking plays off which he did not do much last season.
Kudos to the bench. It's our biggest strength. Defense was supposed to be the other but we are not defending like we did last season. It cannot be that adding Kemba and Fournier dropped us from the best defense in the league to the bottom of the league. It doesn't work that way. Defense is mostly a team effort. This team this season is just not defending as hard as they did for whatever reason. We are not closing out and defending the three and we are not attacking the glass. We have a great HC in Thibs who I'm confident will try his best to fix this but the players need to step up. Especially Randle (it starts with him).
