NBA · has kiki's brilliance run out???? (page 1)

for all the accolades he gets for turning a team with van exel, lafrentz, and juwan howard into a team of miller, melo, kmart, nene, and camby - has denver reached it's peak?

kiki did what alot of people wanted - dump the salaries and start from scratch. build through the draft and get cap space. and he has done a great job putting that team together.

but the question is, did he make a mistake with the kmart signing and b/c of that, has this team reached it's potential?

cap is tied up with miller, kmart, and camby with nene and melo soon to follow. all are solid players and melo is a superstar in the making but it's tough for me to see that team getting better than they were last season, especially in the western conference.

i think he made a mistake making kmart his marquee frontcourt player. kmart is good, really good but he's not the man that's gonna be able to carry this team. melo may be, but he's not there yet. and investing 60mil on matchstick man may turn out to be disasterous 2 years down the road.

50 win team - probably
past the 2nd round - i don't think so

and on a side note, bzdelik is a dead man coaching. i would not be surprised one bit if the next coach of denver is phil jackson...

I think the team needs time to mesh before a definitive conclusion can be reached. The loss of Voshon has hurt them.

Obviously, if Kiki had drafted Stoudemire instead of Nene or Tskitishvili they would have been a lot better.

I'd give it at least 6 games before I would label them.

You can't say that:

If they drafted Stoudamire instead of Skita they wouldn't have had Melo
Same with cleveland if they drafted anyone but wagner, maybe someone else moves in and gets Lebron

What really sucks is the knicks just missed out on Dwane Wade, who they could have moved right in, and then maybe got Sheed for Dice, and have two great players.,

MICHAEL REDD. Michael Redd. And.....Michael Redd.

and btw, kiki didn't really draft nene... did he? I mean the knicks drafted him and traded him...

The story I most often hear is the deal was set up before the draft contingent on NY drafting Nene for Denver. True or not, I can't say for sure.

I think they need a credible coach Like P. Jackson to make the players play ball the right way ala Larry Brown, Jerry Sloan.

I think Marv is correct.
