Nice to get a home win. Kemba has to play better to be the starting point guard.

Game-Ball goes to Quickley's consistent 3's in the 4th qtr. to stretch the Knicks lead for a Knicks WIN !!!

Could not of done it without Melo bricking shot after shot

Good point, that's the Melo I remember as a Knicks at crunch-time

Noel getting big minutes was a big plus.

Randle picking up 5 fouls resulting in more minutes for Obi was a big plus.

If Thibs played the lineups he really wanted to, I think we lose.

Kudos to Fournier. Nice game, and better effort.

How could I forget Grimes got 5 minutes tonight! It a small step but he got burn and was +6.
NYKMentality @ 11/24/2021 1:05 AM
Loved tonight's win.

Got off to a red hot start up 25 points and then even after blowing the lead, instead of watching an L; we watched a team that was able to rebound and win after LAs run.

No LeBron for LA but we were without Mitchell Robinson and Derrick Rose. And still beat an AD/Westbrook led team.

Awesome win moving forward. The East is in a jam right now. The standings are nuts. And it's just exciting to know our NY Knicks are in the fight.

I don’t feel like starting a new thread on this - but absolutely we won because we went small with Burks, IQ, Obi & we had a productive Fournier along with Noel. IQ absolutely saved us. He is the one player we have who can get his shot off whenever he wants- he is moving at a different pace than everyone else.

Not sure why Thibs doesn’t like this lineup but the stats say it works and it certainly passes the eye test. When this unit pushes the ball we create open shots and the half court offense flows more naturally. We also speed up the opponent which and we play decent transition D, better Than we do in the half court, slow down game. Obi sprints after every D rebound, IQ or Rose see it and feed off of it. Burks is shooting well but has a tendency to slow it down, he misses Obi regularly on cuts. The good thing about a high energy dunker is that he never goes cold and it is a high percentage shot

And Noel fits in well, he is an underrated passer and sees the court well.

we were also swarming on defense and that had something to do with it.

True! I watched the 4th qtr and not a work of art, it was a good enough finish.
Trust that Obi can’t play the whole game, or the 2nd unit either. Thibs job is to get the 1st unit sorted. The second unit playing well is a plus but its not to be broken up then you could have two dysfunctional units? Its not plug and play.

“Free OBI”…….Funny, with Randles struggles we as fans see Obi being held back and assume he’d fix what is broken?

My take is with the new injection of offense and a faster pace we are just keeping modern and thibs is adapting. His meticulous approach had knicks off to early start but league caught up. Julius is having to adjust to new players and the quicker pace. Mitch is predictably banged up after no preseason to speak of and Noel not much better. Kemba really is what I expected. Inconsistant. Does that mean he stays that way? I don’t know. I hope not.
EF also has to deal with a new team and all the changes even from game one.
Does the 1st unit get it together this sesaon? Don’t know. Do we give up on this and start with trades to patch it up? Does Thibs believe this is about execution and keep grinding it out?
Whats up with RJ? Is he physically inhibited? Did scouting on him figure out his Kryptonite?
Or has Thibs seen his progress and then install more to get him to the next level? WE have seen this before, RJ goes into a funk of sorts them emerges even better then he went in. Impatient fans think “FUck, we should have traded him before this………”

Westbrook was a beast last night but Lakers dug too big a hole.

Classic Thibs

SergioNYK @ 11/24/2021 11:29 AM
Lot's of positives to take from this win. The SL finally showed some type of cohesion. It seemed like all of them were giddy about this game and were ready to go from the start. It all started with Randle. Does he have beef with AD and Melo? Cause it seemed like Randle played a little harder and took it personal. He still took some questionable shots and had too many turnovers but we can live with that if he's because Randle is being aggressive and looking to make a play.

But I think one of the best things that happened in this game was the Lakers coming back down 25 and Randle getting into foul trouble. It allowed IQ and Obi to play some important fourth quarter minutes against three future HOFers. Both were terrific! Especially IQ! Just dominated that fourth quarter! He made all the big shots every time the Lakers made a run to cut it close.

It wasn't the easiest or prettiest win but whatever. You take those wins anyway you can, especially at home. Losing a 25 point lead is frustrating but you knew the Lakers would make a run. Even with no LeBron that team is stacked. We really had no answer for Westbrook. Burks tried his best but hard to stop a guy that great when he's feeling it. Big kudos to the team for never surrendering the lead. Lakers never led and took the lead. Good to see Fournier have a great game too. Wish that shooting was more consistent.

Please turn scorebot off for the 3rd Q's from now on when the starters are playing and just run this until they're over:

It's like it's the pain we must endure to get to the 4th Q bench good stuff
