Knicks · Barrett. Biggest disappointment (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 11/26/2021 9:47 PM
He’s the guy I thought would go to the next level. He had that incredible three game run where I thought wow— and has absolutely schkd ever since. No slump — he’s just an inconsistent player trapped in a bad cycle.
Clean @ 11/26/2021 10:04 PM
I am not down on anyone offensively in the starting lineup until I see them play without Randle. Randle also bogs down our good bench when he plays with them at the end of games. There is no way the whole starting lineup forgot how to shoot over the summer. I just don't like how Randle plays. Everything goes through him at the expense of others. The thing is I like Randle when he is just a finisher. Why does he have to be our whole offense?

Agree 100% but I think this is mostly on Thibs as Randle was placed in this role.

Knixkik @ 11/26/2021 11:42 PM
It’s easy to get down on Barrett. But he did the exact same thing last year. Can’t forget that. But I agree we need to see more.
losmeister @ 11/27/2021 1:23 AM
one has to account for statistical averages... particularly in the case of Randle...

last hear during the streak is the anomaly... he regressed to the mean as soon as it was playoffs as did everyone else...

RJ it's to soon to call. But it's concerning.
He has wayyyyyyyyyy more games sub 40% than we should be seeing.

EwingsGlass @ 11/27/2021 9:19 AM
Near every player in the NBA can come in and light up the scoreboard. The question is whether they can adapt. You put up a couple 30 pt games and the defenses react to you. You show up with improved 3 pt shooting, the league contests your threes. Either they will adapt as a team or they will get broken up. Last year looks like the anomaly and not the norm. I believe in Barrett. I believe Randle needs to help Barrett succeed. It will make Randle’s game easier. I don’t mind running the offense through Randle. I just don’t like the 18 foot jump shots.I want more passes.
SergioNYK @ 11/27/2021 9:43 AM
I see glimpses of maybe All-Star level talent but RJ is too inconsistent right now. I'm more disappointed in his mental lapses defensively and the turnovers. They seem to come at the worst times. I still believe in RJ and think he will turn the corner and jump to the next level this season. Ultimately, I see him as a Andre Iguodala two-way level player on a good team.

I’m there with this sentiment. RJ missing a ton of open stuff but Randle definitely clogging things up

Needs to get his confidence back
Vmart @ 11/27/2021 10:30 AM
When the team added Fournier and Kemba they added elements that don’t fit. Fournier isn’t a winning type player and Kemba well is past his prime. They went in a wrong direction they went scoring over ball movement. Adding these players reduces RJs role and this increases Randles role as facilitator. They seriously needed to add pass first players. Ball or even Ricky Rubio they would help and make Randle and Barrett more of a finishers. That is where they thrive. Again this old song and dance has been played to death in NY grass is greener approach keeps this team mediocre at best. They should have just brought everyone back from last year and grew as a team with familiarity. They just don’t allow for development as a group.

That starting unit scored (a season high) 36 points in the first qtr against the lakes when Mitch was out.

Randle and Mitch is the worst front court in the NBA...I DVR that a dozen time and watch Randle get trapped and double by the guy Guarding Mitch (It was Ayton last night)

Fournier and RJ is just as bad as Mitch and Randle, Those guys don't cut, they don't move to the open space, they pass the ball to Randle and move 2 steps left or right, or just stand there and the spacing is just stupid low IQ basketball.

RJ was the worst defender in the NBA last night, he never kept track of booker, it's like he watched no film on booker considering the open looks he got.

When is thib going to see that starting unit can not play well together for more 5 to 6 minutes..

RJ having to try to compensate for Fournier being too slow on D might have something to do with it

BS, RJ has sucked all the way around, stop making excuses for him

What makes Fournier not a winning player ? He’s been a #2 option on multiple playoff teams, moves well without the ball and seems like a good teammate. He put France on his back this summer too. I feel like referring to a player with certain limitations as not a winning player isn’t really appropriate.

I don’t believe Fournier was ever the number two option and if he was averaging 12 points per game doesn’t bode well for him.

I don't think he will ever be an All Star Level player. I think he will be an above average starter. A step above players like Tim Hardaway Jr. and Fournier but not an All Star.

They should of madee Ball the priority. Probably should of coughed up the pick for his bird rights last year. Stop bringing in players from the loser Magic. I think thats a good idea from now on.

What do you do? You either flip Burke and Fournier, or trade RJ or Fournier. I think trading Fournier would cost multiple picks so thats probably off the table

Last season as a 20 yr old he averaged 17 and 6 while shooting 40% from 3 and playing quality D

But yeah he forever sucks because one month this season

If Mo Bamba becomes available next offseason we should do due diligence

OKC would ask for the next Mavs pick at a minimum just to take on EF’s contract

The Knicks should consider it. We’d be better off starting Burks and adding McBride to the rotation while IQ primarily plays the 2
