Just curious.
NYK receive:
Wood
Matthews
Exum or Augustin
HOU receive:
Robinson
Knox
Kemba
I'm not sure on what pics if needed make this even up more in value. Not much if a needle mover, but Wood does play more minutes and can shoot away at the rim. Kemba might get some PG time there. Knox isn't a rotation guy. Matthew's stats aren't bad.
Definitely a cheaper trade than Turner/Sabonis or a mega deal.
Wait. First we need to make sure all the guys you suggest are actually on those teams involved. And then we need to take the perspective of the other team too.
When you trade your best player, you need more back than leftovers?
Hey -- let's trade our trash and leftovers for something good! Never gets old.
If Houston was interested in Randle - that would almost be like a free agency signing do-over as some of us on the board preferred Wood over Randle. Wood has played well but not sure Thibs wouldn't struggle as unsure if Wood is still a challenging player (per past comments) to coach.
Let's do this instead:
NYK get:
Paul George
CP3
Sacramento 2022 FRP
Cleveland 2022 SRP
NYK give:
Frank Ntilikina
DSjr
Corpse of Mike Bibby
Draft rights to Frederick Weiss
Draft rights to Louis Labyrie
No, I would not if I were Houston
To OP’s defense, he did say he wasn’t sure how many picks it would take to make that work. Begs the question whether picks and salary can deliver a rotation player borderline Allstar?
Breaking it down to its simplest point, if guys like Christian Wood (Hou) and/or Jerami Grant (DET) become available in trade, the year we signed no one, many of us wanted to add these guys while moving Randle. Most of us had written Randle off for his spinover nonsense.
If you could add them for salary and picks, what does this team look like? That free agent class is coming up in trade moves.
Would Grant (SF) and Randle (PF) be too slow?
Would Randle (PF) / Wood (C) be too soft?
Could all three work?
The question I have is whether we could use some of our war chest of picks to fill in some of our blanks without emptying our bench or giving up Barrett?
