Just start Drose, and use Kemba, Quickley and Burks together off the bench. DRose isn’t considered a starter simply because of minutes concerns but you can still keep him to 24-26 minutes with Quickley, Kemba and even some McBride at PG. Burks isn’t a PG. Thibs needs to tell Kemba he’s sorry, and that he can still use him as a 15-20 mpg reserve. Kemba’s starting days anywhere are over. There’s a good role for him as a bench scorer at this point in his career. It will help chemistry too and prevent what is obviously an awkward situation in the locker room when a former star instantly becomes an afterthought. As for Rose, he doesn’t offer much on defense but he’s a better option than Randle to isolate when the offense breaks down. Having him as a starter is dangerous if you don’t have a great bench but the Knicks don’t have that problem. This Burks as PG thing just doesn’t work how Thibs had in mind and there’s an easy solution available.
Rose is not a starter. He can’t play that many minutes.

I discussed the minutes in my post. His minutes should not be dictated based on whether he starts or not. You can still keep him at 24-26 minutes when you are using Quickley and Kemba off the bench. Quickley is being trusted with bigger minutes these days. Kemba can still provide 15-20 mins and get on a roll. Thibs cited Kembas lack of size and defensive presence as a reason to bench him. Rose gives a little more size and switch-ability. Kemba can replace Rose as the bench spark alongside IQ. But starting doesn’t necessarily mean more minutes for DRose. This team is plenty deep at PG.

3. Rose’s defense is atrocious. He can’t keep up with the younger guys

I will continue to drive home this point about “starters minutes.” Rose plays 25 mpg. His minutes do not need to increase if he moves into the starting lineup if you have Quickley and Walker off the bench (with McBride sprinkled in as well.). And rose is a far better defender than Walker.

Walker wasn't the problem in the starting line up, and why would you break up the bench success.
The walker benching was more personal than business.
IMO guys are going to be in and out of the line up all season long, COVID is not going anywhere anytime soon, doesn't matter if your vaccinated, doesn't matter if you had it already.
Guys are just going to have to be ready when their name is called.
All these guys aren't durable - at some point Rose and Walker will be injuted at the same time. We will see how things play out.
